Re: ITR HUMOR!
You got a woman with your R? Damn, that's a first. I haven't met a girl that was impressed with it, and after a ride they're even less pleased: "IT'S TOO LOUD!"

Re: ebay type r
I wasn't doubting the mileage, but the price for that car with that mileage. I've seen '98s with 70K miles asking for like $18K. Not that they'd necessarily get that much, but that there were a bunch asking around there...

Re: just need some replies, my buddy is talkin garbage
Oh, I know I should get roasted on the straights by him. I was just surprised that he was doing so well throught the turns, as even there he was not slow. As for the SCC article, I'll look that up tonight, I'm almost sure the Mustang won both. Not that I want to flaunt that or anything, but it was s...

Re: just need some replies, my buddy is talkin garbage
He was driving very well from what I could tell, and it was a later SVT, maybe 95 or so (I don't know new mustang years, I know it was the body before the current body), and I know he was modified, though not to what extent. He gets a :thumbs up: from me.

Re: shifting w/o the clutch
Just to give some examples: 1. Guy who drag-races a waaaay hopped-up Eclipse, running about 350whp I think. He power-shifts at the strip, but the tranny only lasts for like 3 or 4 races like that. He's aware of this though, and is willing to make that compromise for the extra 0.01 second or whatever...

Re: just need some replies, my buddy is talkin garbage
I remember there being an article in SCC awhile back (not saying that it's reliable, just that it was done), covering just this topic. They tested the Mustang GT and R in several trials, 1/4 mile, roadcourse, mountain road, skidpad, etc. On the windy backroads, the R whooped up, but no surprise ther...

Re: car safety in Richmond, VA area?
Not sure about on campus down there, but yes NoVA has quite a large Honda/Acura theft problem lately. Victor, if you're out there at all, what's the count up to? By the way dude, just in case you don't know, don't post what school you'll be going to, you never know who might be watching...

Re: Any suggestions on reducing oversteer?
You guys are running that high psi? For track days I tend to set the fronts at about 35, rear 32 or so (warmer days fronts are 34, rear 31) cold and that's pretty good all day. I'm guessing that since with an autox the tires never heat up that much you'd bump it up a bit, but 40/40 seems high. I don...

Re: My Dream Type-R
I'll admit some of the track time I've had has come awfully close to some of the sex I've had as far as fun goes, but my best track days just can't compare to my best sex days. Waaaaaay too different.

Nice lookin' Beamer dude. Just to let you know, CW (Championship White) R's were only around in '97-'98. They were offered in Canada through '01, but you'd have to go through the trouble of importing one. Many people have done it, and if you get a good deal the shipping charges and everything are wo...

Re: Type R love from VW owners
Kabob, go out and test drive a 20th Anniversary. Depending on what you're looking for in a car, you might find it there. It's not as track-capable as the R, but it is quieter and more comfortable. And it looks damn good too.

Thief caught, moral question at hand
Ok, here's the deal. A few weeks back, some punkass thief broke into my car and stole my registration and hospital ID. I'm assuming he took them with the intention of somehow using them to get a key made from an Acura dealer or something. Whatever the case, he was picked up recently with the registr...

Re: Type R love from VW owners
Having owned a GTI 2.0 and driven a new Jetta 1.8t a few times, there's no way I'm ever going back to VWs. Now I have an R, and there's simply too huge of a difference for me to even consider them. It depends what you're looking for though. If you want track/autox performance with some street compro...

Re: increase torque...
Not mentioned in this thread, but important to know: TORQUE IS RELATIVE TO DISPLACEMENT The only way to gain significant torque gains is by increasing displacement. Increasing the bore and stroke (as mentioned above) or forced induction is the way to go. You'll not gain much torque (mainly just hor...

Re: My Dream Type-R
Try starting with a baser-model Integra, a GSR or something, it will be cheaper to begin with, cheaper insurance, and for now it seems like you're not really interested in the track-ready aspects of an R. On the other hand, if you want to get into tracking, go for it, there's nothing like it. Of cou...
