Re: Stalling still, any other ideas?
Stalling follow-up. Even though there was observable spark, I changed the plugs, distributor cap, rotor, and MAP sensor and the stalling was cured! Now working on another problem with emissions. Because of code P4020 I replaced the catalytic converter with a Magnaflow aftermarket "high performa...

Re: Stalling still, any other ideas?
Thanks for all the help. I plan to do what was suggested even though it runs well under load at higher rpm. Wed it stalled with wot in 3rd I think and required many tries to start, then ran fine. That day after work it would not start at all, I had it towed home and after the tow it started right up...

Re: Stalling still, any other ideas?
No Mods, no CEL (now with the new cat), idles fine under standard conditions although the idle was fast after the restart finally succeeded. Relative novice to troubleshooting ITR so not sure what constitutes a "tune up". Plugs are original as are rotor and wires. Air and fuel filters repl...

Stalling still, any other ideas?
2000 ITR 59k stalls if the throttle is opened suddenly at under 2000 rpm in 4th or 5th. Then hard to start but finally started after multiple attempts. Replaced fuel filter and catalytic converter (had code for cat efficiency, now cleared). Runs well otherwise. Any more ideas? Thanks.

Re: Intermittant starting prob and code for cat efficiency
The starting problem is only if the engine is cold for a few hours. When there is a starting failure, retrying in 10-15 minutes will usually work fine, and once it starts it is rough for a couple of minutes as the fuel smell clears, then runs fine. Warm starts seem not to be a problem. I hope to get...

Re: Intermittant starting prob and code for cat efficiency
Thanks-battery tests fine and engine cranks normally. Which is the "main" relay? Any leads on a direct fit aftermarket cat for the ITR?

Intermittant starting prob and code for cat efficiency
My son's 2000 ITR cranks but fails to start about 1 of 4 times, more so if cold or wet. When it fails to start there is a heavy gas/exhaust smell. The only code I can read is for catalytic converter efficiency. I do not know if they are related. Any tips on troubleshooting this issue? Not much exper...

2000 ITR stalling on attepted acceleration from 2000 rpm
My son's 2000 itr was checked by a dealer for stalling and running rough. Fuel system cleaning was done and after a test drive by the dealer the car was pronounced OK. It did run better at higher rpm, but the stalling issue was still present. Apparently they ran it hard but did not try to accelerate...

Referral to a good shop in the Annapolis, MD area needed.
I need to find a good shop to troubleshoot my son's 2000 ITR (formerly mine until his GSR was stolen). It sounds like it has a miss at a certain rpm and load combination, <50k miles and no mods. Thanks!

2000 Type R is moving to Maryland
I am new to the forum and need some help. My 2000 Type R 0150 is moving to live with my son in Maryland. 29k miles and only basic maintenance so far. He will not be able to do significant work on it so I need to find a good shop or reputable dealer to do the 30k needs. Any suggestions in the Annapol...
