I paid $150 for a used Icebox with filter. I run the stock intake arm and see no ill effects to it. I've painted quite a few sets of wheels.

As mentioned above, aircraft stripper, or whtever its called works great. But, if tires are still mounted, be very careful. Be sure to sand them afterwards. When painting, just take your time. Used 3-4 coats of paint.
