Hopefully. At idle there's noticeable vibration, I guess due to the girth of the engine. I'd had it checked by a mech before buying it and it checked out clean so I dunno. I mean, it's nice and comfy...and fast. Still, though, deep down I consider the R a better car. I think I may end up getting an ...

Re: Tough Decision :/
Heh...I can't believe what I ended up getting. A white 1997 BMW M3. Not sure if I really like it, yet, but it was a good deal so I took it. I figure if I don't like it I can just sell it, bite the bullet, and get the R. I just noticed I seemed to have a craving for comfort...at least for a while. I ...

Re: What causes the "farty" sound?
Ah okay. I was under the impression that the CAI is what really gave it the famous farty sound.

Re: What causes the "farty" sound?
Sorry, wasn't specific enough. I wasn't referring to the Type R. I meant when I hear it on say, a GS-R with a modified intake and exhaust. Civics are another example (probably the most prevalent) of a car that seems to acquire this sound from many of the popular CAI/Exhaust packages.

What causes the "farty" sound?
Just wondering if it's the muffler, or the intake that actually causes it on the car...or if it's a combination of both.

Re: Tough Decision :/
Well I saw the 12.500 GS-R today. It was in good shape...unfortunately I'm "second in line" as far as buyers go for it. I also went and looked at the $17k car. It was immaculate except for it had 2 inch exhaust plumbing all the way through...and the 2 inch bore muffler at the end. Coupled ...

Re: Rebuilt Motor Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with Reid, sounds like the rings are going. By "her" he meant your ITR. I guess you're not familiar with the age-old ritual of man referring to his vehicles as "her" or "she". Anyhow, you're probably going to have to break it down and put new rings in. The perso...

Re: Tough Decision :/
Well, I've come to the conclusion that, despite the noise etc., I still love the Type R. However, I also found a 1999 GS-R with 57k miles for $12.500...so I think I may just end up getting a GS-R since that price leaves me needing about a $3500 loan instead of a $10000-12000 loan. I'm sure you guys ...

Re: Tough Decision :/
The scuffing may have come from the car wash guys who washed the car for him a couple weeks ago. They managed to chip some paint off of the spoiler, so I wouldn't be surprised. Regardless, I repaired it anyway. I drove a GS-R yesterday...I'd definitely agree the brakes are noticeably inferior. I gue...

Re: Tough Decision :/
Okay, say I get a GS-R. It'd leave me with money to spare, obviously. For say, 2000-2500 dollars, what kind of performance/handling modifications should/could I do? I don't want a loud exhaust since, obviously, I'd be choosing the GS-R for higher level of comfort and a loud exhaust would sorta imped...

Re: Tough Decision :/
I don't want to get the car and then find I want to sell it a year from now... It would most likely happen if you get a GSR..... If you're looking for comfort and luxury, the GSR won't be able to satisfy you for too long. You would probably want to get rid of it after a year from now. I guess I hav...

Tough Decision :/
Alright, I finally went down south and tried out the Type R I had my eye on. Loved the car, it was really quick and sounded great...and was in great shape. However... While it *was* a great car, I found it was still a bit of a chore to drive when I wasn't trying to race around. I'm not sure if this ...

Various sounds
I am curious about any "normal" sounds one hears while accelerating in the car. I tested out the car I'm looking to buy again, and noticed that while accelerating, I could hear an "extra" sound come up that would happen after 4500RPM that sounded not quite like grinding but not q...

Re: Canada Daytime Running Lights
Well, I'm glad there is a way to do it. I'll ask the mech at the dealership I'm having the car checked at before I buy it. It doesn't kill the deal or anything for me, but I'd like to disable it if I can.

Canada Daytime Running Lights
Hi guys, I was wondering if there is any known way to disable this "feature" of the Canadian ITRs to run the darn lights 24/7. Yes yes I know it's added safety but I'd prefer to have some control over when the lights are running etc. etc. Anyone have any idea how to disable it? Before anyo...

Re: Accelerating Rev Problem
My first inclination was to say his clutch was slipping, but then I saw the mileage and figured I'd let one of you blokes answer it.
Is it possible it could be a problem with the differential as well, guys? I don't know much about limited slip differentials, unfortunately.

Re: Any one running with 100 octane?
Is 98 octane gas leaded? I've never seen it anywhere here in California, only 103 which *is* leaded as far as I know. If it *is* leaded, I certainly wouldn't be running it in the car all the time. Anyhow, what octane does is increase the length of time the fuel burns. If the burn time exceeds the le...

Re: Sweet ITR on Ebay!
I wish you luck with that. The salvage title plus being located in a place that gets snow and salts roads...may hurt the price you can sell it for. Not saying it won't happen...but the highest I've ever personally seen one in the same situation go for was around 15k. I certainly wish you the best of...

Re: Red Backseats
Do *all* canadian ITRs have red back seats? Man, I'd hate to go see the Canadian ITR I'm going to go check out next week and find it has these hideous red back seats that don't match the rest of the car :p.

I'm just wondering what degree of louder it is :). OEM exhaust and OEM axle ratio is not all that loud. You are not going to have a problem with hearing the radio at normal high speeds, up to 80 miles per hour. If you're driving faster than that, you probably need to turn the radio off and pay atte...

it's louder, stiffer, and more raw than a 95 LS, but not anywhere near unbearable. Well the stiffer is what I was looking for, the more raw...I suppose I like that too. Re: Cruising revs
Thanks for the replies guys. I guess it was something I just overlooked when looking at the ITR. Is it so loud that it drowns out the music or is it okay in that respect? I came from a car that was *very* loud, an old Austin Mini, so I'm somewhat desensitized...or so people tell me. Not to mention c...
