Geesh, never had any intentions of getting anyone so riled up. I never called anyone names I merely questioned the reasoning for your rule. I respect it and never asked you to change it. And frankly I am done stating my feelings on it now! This is your site and I am not telling you how to run it! Th...

I am not here to bust your bubble or anything and I am no 17 yr old "young sports car owner" either. I don't condone street racing either but to totally ignore it I think is silly. Sure you may be adults who are very conservative drivers (I don't see the point of owning a high reving integ...

Explanation for ignorance to street racing?

I would like to know why you are not permitted to discuss street racing/ stoplight racing? Just because people talk about it does not mean the site supports it. http://www.sportcompactracing.com does not in any way support or encourage street racing however it is discussed all the time. It is like h...

If you want to launch well in these cars you HAVE to turn off the ASR! As for the APR website: The flashing is a new service that was released in july. Check it out here: http://www.goapr.com/VW/products/directport.html I just made my first trip to the track running nothing but the chip. Didn't get ...

I had no complaints before I was chipped but it defintely feels a little soft since getting chipped. Suspension will prob be next and most likely final upgrade as I want to keep it looking and sounding stock. Its plenty fast now since being chipped. I am thinking a full bilstein coilover suspension ...

Glad to see some life in here finally. I actually just got it chipped 2 weeks ago by APR. There claimed gains are 215 hp (from 180) and 247 tq (from 174). It certainly feels like it! They don't even solder a new chip in anymore, they flash the software on you stock ECU and it is encrypted so the dea...

The 1.8t engine is actually known for it's lack of lag. Lag is part of driving a turbo. Once the boost kicks in just over 2000 rpms it pulls hard. Cars like the WRX have really bad lag but pull very hard up high. The lack of lag is what makes the turbo such a great daily driver. The power is spread ...

Re: ITR vs. GTI 1.8T?

Actually APR flashes all the ECU programming now so there is no soldering and no installation, just flashed software. While I have not experienced all of the different chips, I have read that APR is the smoother and most drivable of the powerful chips (APR,GIAC,Upsolute). I almost forgot, I had the ...

1.8t GTI guy here

Just thought I'd introduce myself to the forum. I drive a Reflex Silver '02 GTI 1.8T, 5 speed, 17" stock wheels. I am currently stock aside form a K&N drop in panel filter which gives no significant power gains as many of you know! I am getting an APR chip upgrade this week which i mentione...

Re: ITR vs. GTI 1.8T?

Yeah what kind of response was that? Especially from someone who hasn't even driven a VW let alone a GTI! The GTI is awsome as a daily driver and for surprising lot's of unsuspecting ricers who think a stock 1.8t has no balls. I'm going to get chipped at APR (http://www.goapr.com) this week. With th...

Re: ITR vs. GTI 1.8T?

So I am the "buddy that was talking trash about his 1.8t" from the begining of this thread. I am hear to clear some things up. First of all many of you may be thinking about the 150hp 1.8t which I admit is not a quick car. Mine is an '02 GTI which is rated at 180 hp at the crank. Second, I...
