Well, we DO see eye to eye as far as the joys of R-ownership and the desire to keep thieves away from our toys. Guess I wasn't chilllin' as much as I need to  Let's move on to better topics and better times.

Just curious as to what response you are trying to solicit from me? Could it be that you don't know that Putnam Avenue/Post Road is not an intersection, but is Route 1 that runs all the way to Massachusetts, or nearly 200 miles? Finally, Route 1 is a predominantly commercial road, not residential; t...

Do you know how many miles and towns Putnam Ave/Post Road runs through and how many specialty shops there are in CT? Furthermore, I did not indicate which state those temporary plates were issued from, nor its actual number/letters. Finally, I am acutely aware of the risks and pain of ITR thefts as ...

CW w/ temporary plates on Putnam Ave/Post Road in CT

Saw a gorgeous CW ITR (probably a 1998) this morning parked in front of specialty shops on Putnam Ave/Post Road in lower CT town (don't want to specify which one to keep thieves guessing). It was spotless, and had temporary license in rear hatch, so I am guessing that the new owner just got the tags...

Just want to offer my congratulations on your new purchase as well. The advice to keep it safe on the street is very sound. No offense intended, but I would expect that you will need to raise the bar on your driving techniques to match the limits of the R, and there is no better (safe and legal) way...

I have no doubt that the ITR is faster on the track than the MINI S, having driven both at Lime Rock. Thanks for reminding me of ITR EXPO, but I have a dedicated track/race car (see http://www.stohr.com) which I think the organizers of that event would consider a distraction at best and hazardous at...

Yes, I feel very fortunate. I got to know the original owner a couple years ago when he was selling another car, but we didn't do the deal. That was when I learned he had the 1998 ITR, and I told him to call me whenever he wanted to sell. We stayed in touch over the years and when he call earlier th...

New ITR owner, second time around

Well, I just drove home with my new 1998 ITR. It's used, but is in virtually new condition as the car has less than 4k miles on the odo and completely stock. The previous owner is a great guy, a true auto enthusiast, and took great care of the car's mechanicals and cosmetics despite limited use. I h...

My insurance was unchanged after settling on my stolen 1998 ITR. However, I was a long-time customer and also had home insured with carrier. Nevertheless, it's hard to see how insurance company can justify raising premium on stolen car unless you were found negligent (left key in ignition? motor run...

For my insurance settlement of my stolen '98 ITR, I put together a list of ITR's that had been advertised for sale, then contacted the seller to determine just what they got (I found previous owners cooperative once I explained that it was for insurance settlement and nothing else). Once the adjuste...

Bought in June '98 at sticker with A/C included (about $1k value); stolen in March '99. But have a bead on a replacement '98 ITR.

My first ITR (1998) was stolen after only 9 months and 6k miles of use. I'm about to buy my second ITR, and was hoping that thieves would have moved on to other cars ... guess I'm wrong and now wondering how long before I lose another. My condolences on your loss, and definitely point out the true m...

Any chance you can post a pic of your WalMart special covering your ITR, or email it to me? I don't mind paying more for the right fit and protection, but not if I it's not necessary. Thanks.

Thanks, I suspected that Acura made a custom cover for the Type R, but 'll have to see whether my local dealer can still get it. Does anyone have any experience with Customcraft or other 3rd party supplier?

For those of you whose R is sleeping through the winter, do you use a car cover? Who is the manufacturer and is it a custom fit? Thanks, I tried asking this question in a separate subject, but no replies as yet there.

What car cover do you use?

Just curious if you use a car cover, and if so from what manufacturer? Thanks.
