Rusted bottom rear strut brace.. Wonder how to fix it.

Post by MotorChan »

See below my rear bottom brace (strut bar? Not sure what it is called). It is all rusted.. I'm looking to repair it or replace it. I wonder if I can get some fiberglass material to fill the hole as it has rusted through.

Or if I should replace it, does anyone know where I can get the part number for it as I'm guessing that I have to get it through the dealership. However, I don't even know what to call that bar.. lol..

Any suggestion?

Wow, yeah, that thing is shot. Don't try to repair that...just replace.

Brand new you can get it for $72.92 from Delray Acura's website. Might be able to find it even slightly cheaper elsewhere.
Part # is 74350-ST7-R00 ROD, RR. ARM PERFORMANCE (LOWER)

You can also find them for sale used on any number of Honda forums...I vaguely remember a few recently. Used maybe $30-50 each.

Thanks for the quick reply. If I replace that myself, do I need to redo any alignment?

By the way, what do you call that?

Just ordered the part.. Hopefully the mounting bolts won't give me too much trouble ;)

Hopefully not to bad. Just make sure if they aren't coming out, to use some WD-40 or similar to help break them loose.
