Just wondered if they can be expected to go 100k+ with average driving. Let's say "spirited" , but not abusive
Also, what have you payed to get it replaced? I had asked at a dealer and they said approx $1,100. So I'm guessing a tranny shop would likely do it for maybe $700-$800.
Thanks for any feedback.
How long did your stock clutch last? Replacement $ ?
Re: How long did your stock clutch last? Replacement $ ?
Where you located? I'll do it for $250 plus parts. LOL
But seriously... that's rediculous for a clutch replacement.
As for lasting 100k. I've seen it on civics and such, but never on an ITR. I'm sure if you drove like Miss Daisy all the time, maybe there'd be a chance... but that's pushing it.

I had some transmission work done at about 90k (I had just changed cars from my S2000 [6 gears] to the ITR [not 6 gears - unfortunately since I shifted into "6th"]).DMC04 wrote:Just wondered if they can be expected to go 100k+ with average driving. Let's say "spirited" , but not abusive

In any case they expected the clutch to be trashed due to the mileage. When they got in there they were shocked that it had about 80% remaining.
I don't drive like "miss daisy", but I do match revs during downshifts and I never ever EVER let the clutch slip for more than an instant if possible when upshifting. I tend to pride myself on driving smoothly even when, um, not going slowly let's say.
So I guess I'd say it's possible for really long clutch life on the ITR.

I picked up my R with 123k on it. The factory clutch was in it and needed to be replaced. Granted, it was on the rivets, but it still held and didn't slip. I now have a Comp clutch stage 2 and 12lb. flywheel. Its a really nice setup, but if I had to do it again, I would probably drop to a stage one. The carbon/kevlar face grabs really hard and you have to be ultra soft on the pedal to avoid clutch chatter. After all, I daily drive mine.
former owner 2001 #41, miss her and will own one again.
