TO4E Turbo
Yo guys, I'm looking at a 1995 GS-R with TO4E turbo on it. He's sellin' it for $9000 and it's got 75k on it.
Any way my real question is that that is all that's on their, he says all the lines are hooked up but he has nothing else on it. (blow-off valve, intercooler, and all that other stuff I'm just learning about). What other parts will I need to run this turbo. Need a rough estimate on a good setup.
Good deal??
Let me know guys.
Thanks!!

if you want the car to last on stock internals I will say atleast 2 grand more. you will need:
Injectors, AFC, Fuel pump, BOV, FMIC and all piping, head gasket, block gaurd, clutch, Flywheel, etc.

turbo
That's a nice turbo (the same one I run on mine)
Just make sure that the car hasn't been run with the turbo on it without
being connected to the throttle body, this would cause severe overspin and the turbo would most probably be damaged.

Re: TO4E Turbo
He said that the turbo is sitting on the exhaust manifold but that there is a cai, so the turbo is not hooked up or running. Yeah it still needs the piping and all that. It sounds like a decent deal to me. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!!

Re: TO4E Turbo
If he is driving the car with the turbo mounted on the manifold, even with a cai, the turbo is still spinning (overspinning) because there is nothing there to give it backpressure. If this is the case, inspect that turbo with a keen eye, because it's probably damaged.

Re: TO4E Turbo
What should I look for on the turbo to tell if it's in good or bad condition. He says that fe started the project but needs money and just didn't finish. Sounds ok to me. But I will defenitely have an inspection.
Thanks

Re: TO4E Turbo
You can check for shaft-play, but really you won't know if the bearings leak until you start boosting.

Re: TO4E Turbo
Stay away from the car.
It's not worth your trouble to buy someone else's problem.
If you want a turbo GSR, buy a stock GSR and turbo it.
That is the only way to ensure things are done properly.

Re: TO4E Turbo
If I take the turbo off, will the rest of the engine be damaged. I was thinkin' of just takin' off the turbo or seeing if he'll sell it cheaper w/o the turbo. Should the rest of the engine be ok?

Re: TO4E Turbo
If the owner is stupid enough to run the car without any charge piping, who knows what else is wrong with the car.

Re: TO4E Turbo
There are so many nice stock, well taken care of Hondas out there, just pick one of them, and walk away from this one, it just doesn't make sense
