OIL Filters

Post by the_integra_man »

I'm sure someone will be able to answer this for me, someone on here ALWAYS has the answer :D

I was simply wondering what the deal was with the S2K filters. I've owned my ITR for about 2 years now and I have been using AMSoil 10W-30 and regular Honda ITR filters. What is the benefit with the S2K filters and should I switch?

The internal construction of the S2k filters are superior to the regular ones. The regular ones have a blow-by valve that weakens in mileage, so oil by passes the filter material. I wouldn't go over 2-3k miles on the regular. The S2k I'd trust it to 5-7k miles.

I'm pretty anal as is. I mean last year the car saw 3-4 thousand kilometres and I changed the oil three times - once coming out of storage, once in between and once going into storage. Do the S2K filters cost quite a bit more than the regular ones?

I want to say they changed the S2K filters not long ago. You have to order via the part number. Some were made at XYZ factory and the new ones are at ABC. So it's changed a bit.

Hey buddy,

Of course this is hella-late, but I was using the S2K filters on that car ever since I bought it. Just go in to Honda and ask for an oil filter for an AP1 s2000.

How's the car doing btw? I F'N miss it like crazy! Gimme a PM if you want.

the "good" filter is the 15400-PCX-004 made by Toyo Roki
the other "good" filter is the 15400-PLM-A01 made by Filtech

the "bad" filter is the 15400-PLM-A02 made by Honeywell (fram)

the HAMP "PLC" filters made by toyo roki are even better

they have everything the "PCX" and "PLM-A01" (metal endcaps, high quality filter element) has but with an even stronger bypass valve

I've been using Mobil1/K&N filters for awhile (ever since the toyo toki s2k filters went away).

I'd be interested in the Hamp filters if they are cheap enough. Currently buying 5 qts of M1 with an M1 filter for $30.

I'm curious on pricing as well for roughly a dozen or so. I have 3 Honda/Acuras to maintain now.
