They're made of Nomex and they're on sale.
Not a bad price.

No need for that Nomex though, it would just be wierd if your hands were the only part of your body uncrispy.

I will use some Home Depot Firm Grips :D

a $10 nomex army/airforce thermal undershirt fixes that! my whole upper body is lightly protected, didn't break the bank breathes pretty well and look like regular clothes rather than a full fire suit.

X2.

Also, when you're on fire, I would think ANY part of you that could be protected is better than not, even if it's just your hands.

True...at least they'll be able to identify the body by fingerprints.

Ordered my gloves yesterday. Opted for the Alpinestars K1 of course in obnoxious yellow:

I assume you're laughing at Doespike. Don't make me slap you while in green group with my full yellow suit equipped with yellow shoes & gloves.

It's not like the gloves, etc are fireproof. With a SFI /5 suit, you get less than 10 seconds until second degree burns. A single layer undershirt, you have 3 or so. In other words, the full firesuit, gloves, shoes, etc is only buying you enough time to escape from the car with minimal burns... chances of a nomex shirt saving you in any way with nothing else, when the car has a passenger compartment fire after a wreck is basically non existant, it just won't last long enough, especially since the fire will just go under the shirt.... IMO it really is an all or nothing thing, since without all the gear, you'll get burned just as badly anyways.

true, but I still feel like any little bit helps without doing additional harm

Plus my R has so much body roll I like to stick my hand out and brace the asphalt going around some tight apex's.

This. Also, I had one racer describe to me the process of getting out of a burning car, and how even with his gloves on he burned his palms somewhat grabbing the rollcage/roof. He thought that if his gloves had not been on, he probably would've had problems with his skin basically frying onto the surface of what he touched. One little, tiny thing that made things better for him.
