I'm trying not to get too excited about it being a 3 day week. My boss has to take on my workload.

Awesome video! You have a 5D MKII, right? How is the autofocus while shooting video?itrsteez wrote:The ring in 24 hours and 19,500 frames

Re: The OT place for OGs to BS w/o BS.
yeah I do, autofocus while shooting video I look at as a non-existent function. Maybe there's some more reading up I have to do but I just do everything manual focus. These DSLR's aren't the best for run and gun footage, but any shot planned out is amazing.Bradstard wrote:Awesome video! You have a 5D MKII, right? I have yet to find a good way for autofocus to work while shooting video on the T2i also, manual focus is what I also use.

Yeah I think that's the only real option. Fortunately you can crank the ISO up on these things with very little noise so you can just use higher apertures for shots where you know you probably would have to change focus a lot and then if you want those shallow DOF shots then make them the stationary ones.
Also I'm sure you're annoyed that the internal mic pics up the sound of you focusing, if you get a hotshoe mic like the MKE400 that's pretty much eliminated.

Re: The OT place for OGs to BS w/o BS.
I have noticed the focus noise with the internal mic. That external mic looks nice but $200 is a little steep for my cheap ass. I've also started shooting in 720p at 60fps instead of 1080p at 30fps.
This is a crappy youtube upload I took driving home the other night with the windows down. I wanted to see how much wind noise there was at 70mph.

That wind noise isn't bad at all. And even any normal video camera up until these things wouldn't of captured low light as well as that, would of been full of grain.
I'm bummed they'll never give the 5d 60p, it's such a cool feature

Re: The OT place for OGs to BS w/o BS.
I wouldn't fret over frame rate too much. Hollywood uses 24 frames/sec and Europe uses 25 frames/sec (due to 50 Hz refresh, they were smart...we're at 60 Hz).
In my field, I've met some of the cameraman for ESPN, Discovery, etc...and 24 frames is the standard. It's good enough for motion without introducing too much shake.

Well when shooting 60p and converted to 24p you get beautiful slow motion like overcranking 16mm
