turd took the rustR to work so I decided to see how this left foot driving thing would work with my bulky cast, it's not too bad at all. Not exactly graceful on the pedals but it's not bad at all, that was my crowning achievement for today.

just keep in mind that in most (if not all) states that's a very hefty ticket should a cop ever see you driving with a cast. several hundred dollars minimum.itrsteez wrote:turd took the rustR to work so I decided to see how this left foot driving thing would work with my bulky cast, it's not too bad at all. How's the ankle feeling though?

Re: The OT place for OGs to BS w/o BS.
I shouldn't call it a cast, it's a big bulky metal splint wrapped in ace bandage up to my knee. As far as the ankle, it's not bad, I say there is a large chance that it'll probably come off tomorrow and I'll get one of those boots, it's been two weeks. If that happens I might be swayed to catch a ride to expo.Erik95LS wrote:just keep in mind that in most (if not all) states that's a very hefty ticket should a cop ever see you driving with a cast. several hundred dollars minimum.itrsteez wrote:turd took the rustR to work so I decided to see how this left foot driving thing would work with my bulky cast, it's not too bad at all. Is it illegal to drive with the left foot?
Just got off the phone with hmotors, steve was nice enough to break apart an ITR swap w/ 36k and sell me a complete head and a new JDM ITR final drive for a little over $1300 shipped. Look forward to have a fully functional car waiting for a fully functional driver.

So you're getting your bottom end rebuilt and throwing the fresh head on? Sounds like a nice combo.

Re: The OT place for OGs to BS w/o BS.
yeah bottom end with all brand new shit, USDM b16 pistons, and a semi fresh head (36k miles). My current valvetrain has less than 8k on it but I might just sell it all off along with my current ITR cams. Oh and PowerFC and 4.785 final drive.CivicBeater wrote:So you're getting your bottom end rebuilt and throwing the fresh head on? Sounds like a nice combo.

Re: The OT place for OGs to BS w/o BS.
in most states it's illegal to drive with a cast on your leg/foot, but they sometimes make allowances if it's your left foot in the cast and you drive an automatic. I can't count the number of patients that used to come in and tell us about their tickets (in multiple states) for that very reason. Not a lot of people know about it; not even a lot of doctors. Even with an air cast like you're probably getting people have been ticketed before and from what we were told it's not something you'll win out against in most courts. Just food for thought.itrsteez wrote:I shouldn't call it a cast, it's a big bulky metal splint wrapped in ace bandage up to my knee. I'm going to keep extending the benefit of the doubt to these guys and let them finish what they started. I'm sure it won't be the last rebuild that car will see. I'll more than likely send RustR to CLT though, the only other possible route would be ken & red just because they're much closer.Erik95LS wrote:itrsteez wrote:

that's a good heads up on the driving with a cast thing, it'll just have to be an assumed risk. I've missed too much school and will have to go back to work one of these weeks.

I dunno mang....once you start dropping $$ on replacing heads/whatnot...don't think I'd let them eff the newer stuff up too....cut losses.itrsteez wrote: I'm going to keep extending the benefit of the doubt to these guys and let them finish what they started.

Re: The OT place for OGs to BS w/o BS.
Ah, I'm the nice guy. It'll be okay. This project has a lot of visibility with the president now with dealing with my complaint letters behind the scenes. I know they're going to do everything in their power not to F up now. There isn't much to f' up to be honest... they'll just have to verify measurements when the block comes back from the machine shop (different shop this time), which I assume was an error based on their atmosphere of working fast to get deadlines done.
The head is going to stay assembled and probably just have a valve job from the machine shop.
The transmission work has been subbed out to Red so you know it'll be perfect, he's also going to rebuild my starter for an extra $20
Fortunately this time I'm in no hurry to drive (since I can't) so I won't even pick up the car till I know it's correct.

Yes I want him to take it to the charlotte airport. There's a guy working the parking garage that does engine rebuilds in his booth. He also sells crack and porcelain figurines.CivicBeater wrote:CLT = Charlotte Airport?

Mostly recreations of scenes from the movies "8mm," "The Land Before Time 3," and "Road House."Doespike wrote:What kind of figurines??CivicBeater wrote:Damn, does he have a website?
