Well i figured this would be a decent tech topic since a lot of you track your cars. Post your experiences and solutions as well. With all stock ITR cooling on my car I saw oil temps in excess of 330degF (taken at oil filter, not pan) during high temp track events and decided it was definitely time for some better cooling. I thought about getting the GReddy kit, but decided to piece my own together so I could get a better unit and safe a good bit of money. The GReddy kit is good though and ready made if that's what you want to do. There were a number of threads about this on the old site, so I thought this one could use it as well if any of you are curious. Anyone else feel free to add your experiences or setups as well. This setup dropped my oil temps by as much as 60deg on track. This summer at expo 8 in all that horrid heat I never saw higher than 265-270.
This is just what I used. You may want to make some adjustments to the list for your purposes or even use some somewhat cheaper parts. I liked the size of the 19 row cooler and -10 piping, but you can use bigger coolers if you want, but I wouldn't go any smaller than this really. You can easily add the remote oil filter into this as well. You just need the oil filter relocation plate, separate thermostat, and a couple more hose ends. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions as well. Have fun! I just checked all these prices and they are current from racerpartswholesale.com You can get your stuff wherever you want, but I included item numbers for their site.
12ft. Aeroquip stainless braided -10AN hose FBA1000 $6.49 per ft. x 12 ft. = $55.44. Link
2x. Aeroquip 90degree reusable -10AN hose ends FCM4034 $21.49ea. Link
2x. Aeroquip 45degree reusable -10AN hose ends FCM4024 $20.99ea. Link
2x. Aeroquip -10AN to 1/2"npt straight adapter. FCM2009 $3.85ea. Link
1x. Mocal 19 Row Oil cooler: MOC - 19210. -10AN $175.00 Link
1x. Mocal oil sandwich 20mm (might want to double check size) adapter/thermostat. $86.95 Link
I actually used straight fittings instead of the 45deg ones, but if I were to do it again, I'd go with the 45s or even 90s.
pictures. Sorry some of them are so blurry.
especially this one. Sandwich plate, NPT to -10AN adapter fittings, and straight -10 hose fittings ( you would use the 45deg fittings in place of these)
how I routed my hoses, you can do whatever you want. Many come up the other side of the engine.
My friend Dan helping mount the cooler, we made some brackets to secure it.
all done.

Nice, I need to do that still. The stock oil cooler isn't all that great First I need to get the ghetto cheap oil filter sandwich to stop leaking.

Re: TECH!!!!! oil cooler options
I currently have a B&M import oil cooler, oil thermostat, & filter relocation... I just got my oil temp sensor working this past week, but, alas, the race car didn't make it to expo after all, so i have no track data. spoolin around town, i max out at 220F on a 90 degree day.
I am debating whether or not to go bigger...

There is sufficient evidence to indicate that the rate of increase in output per unit increase of input decreases as the input increases
