I think tomorrow I'll commit to a gopro, earlier this week I picked up a wind screen for my H4n, I'm thinking it should eliminate all of the bad audio caused by the wind.

While we're at mid O I want to get every last gopro and stick them on one car and do a multi-cam setup, that's be badass
definitely. I've already got 2 permanent mounts on mine as well as a couple rollbar mounts :D
You definitely need to have a second camera when you're doing the suspension videos. I liked watching your videos, but it would have been nice to do split screen or picture in picture and be able to see what was going on outside too.

I would like to get a side cockpit shot, front bumper and rear bumper. Would be cool to cut 3 different angles of rolling somebody. Also stoked to have a laptop with a sd card slot in it now, it'll make life much easier.

Very happy with my Incroyable. I'm still getting used to the whole smartphone thing, even though I've carried three different Blackberries over the last 6+ years. AT&T + Edge = major suckage for anything except email.

Bef has been on two different Windows Mobile phones over the past few years - Motorola Q and an HTC something. She ordered her Incroyable today. Yep, still back-ordered.

I love that Android has really taken off. I was an early adopter with the G1 when it came out, and there were more naysayers than not then. I'm still using my G1 with cyanogen roms, rooted obviously. It's starting to show its age though.

There's absolutely no reason you should be using Edge when doing anything other than making phone calls or texting. Thats like having a cable modem, but still using the 56k modem.

What are your thoughts of these new hardware locks being put in place of Android phones. Sounds like open source is under attack.

Talking about the Droid X and such? It puzzles me as I thought the point of open source was to allow the user to customize the device to their liking and make it more personal. I could see if it were allowing people to get around services and do things illegally, but AFAIK, that isn't the case.

Guys, there's more Dev's out there in the open source community than there are working for Google and the Carriers.

They WILL always find ways around things. Case in point... i'm with Sprint but if Verizon's towers are better in my area, I can switch my radio to utilize Verizon towers and not get charged for Roaming or anything. Bill will be normal. :)

That is the case though. They are trying to prevent users from turning their phones into mobile hot spots. The X has the feature built in from the factory but it is activated via a ~$15 monthly premium from the provider.

mine has "hot spot" capability. Wife Tether. As does the Spring HTC Hero, it's advertised to do such a thing. I think what your referring to, is more based on the Carrier. Prime example would be Skype. Verizon is the sole carrier that allows Skype on their phones. However, it forces you to turn Data/Wifi off, and forces you to use their 3G network. While there are other ways around this, I think this is the thing you are referring to, not hardware/software limitations.

I'm not too worried about it. I'm also glad that t-mobile has usually let things slide as long as its not abused (torrenting via phone as an example of abuse).

Interesting, first I have heard of it.

I'm sure there will still be away around it though. Just give it enough time, they will modify the code, that detects other software. :)

Edit: Quote from the wrong Eric's link...

The Droid X has a chip inside also known as eFuse, which verifies if you are using the correct software shipped with the devices, or approved by the manufacturer. If the check fails, the phone is rendered useless.

However, Boy Genius Report said that the problem might not be as dire as initially reported, as more experienced hackers will be able to work around the protection mechanism. All-in-all though, by using this technology, Motorola doesn't want you to tinker with the phone's software, at least not very easily.
