The OT place for OGs to BS w/o BS.

Anything goes? Well, if you keep it clean and aren't obnoxious.

I've got this lil overheating issue with the eg. It only occurs if I'm idle for 5-10 minutes, I'll see the needle start to rise. Could this be a sign of just old/bad coolant? Absolutely no sign of other overheating issues while driving my 50 miles a day in it. I'm concerned that this issue might actually grow into something larger than it is having it sit on the highway for an extended amount of time.
does fan come on?

That's what came to mind as I was typing that out. After the drive home today I'll pop the hood and check it out. That may be a relatively easy fix. It rarely occurs as I'm never really stopped for that long period of time, so I've never given it much thought. However, with the potential road trip it's concerning.

It'll be fine on the highway with the wind.

I wouldn't drive the ITR either at that mileage marker.

Paperclip the plug at the thermostat housing, if the fan doesn't come on, you will have to dig deeper....

Hmmm I'm assuming there is somewhere on the housing that is obvious to stick a paperclip in?

EDIT. Fawk, are you guys screwing with me!?

I was. jack was not. temp sensor on the thermo housing is what triggers the fan so if you bridge that with a wire or paper clip (or tongue) it will complete the circuit turning on the fan or indicating that you're effed in the game.

Is there any difference in just letting the car warm up and waiting for the fan to kick on? As stupid as I am, I'll probably be sitting there jumping the MBC.

no, but this way is instant and isolates the fan from the thermo switch which can tell you where the problem is or isn't. Check fuses too if you haven't

Outside of a ported VTEC solenoid, that is the best mod I'v done.

Ahhh I'm following. Well, I guess first thing is first. See if the dern fan kicks on. Then I'll try jumping the thermo switch. Couldn't I check for voltage i.e. licking the actual fan switch?

he and I were discussing that and I think it has to be notarized because NC requires that you do. So since it's a NC you have to. I had to when I bought the M3 anyway

Cool. I'll make sure it's done then.
