Bullshit, even if you build one to max factory specs you're not breaking 4k. And that's with a 512gb SSD and 8gb of ram.
She has a terabyte Hard drive.
They don't ship from the factory with 1tb SSD's, so that means it would be a normal drive which would be drastically cheaper than a 512gb SSD.

Actually they don't even ship with 1tb drives.

Oh and PS if you get a new MBP then get a i5 or i7, they scream.
Sadly no i5/i7, it's a year old. I'm cheap, but it is one of the top/maxed out models from its generation. It will be more than what I need.

IT fellas, I am thinking my power supply on the home cpu is toast. How do I determine if it is in fact the power supply or the motherboard? All I have to work with is that the power button when pushed doesn't light up as it would normally, the cooling fan spins and the 'thinking light' lights up briefly. Other than those things, it is DOA.

I've priced out a mac and I cant even justify spending 2000 on one. Granted my job isnt computers, just boggles me that apple stays in busiiness......or are they just selling iphones :P

I'm not following your post for some reason. You hit power - which fan comes on? CPU cooler? Case fan? Power supply fan? Do they stay on or go back dead?

Tried a different outlet or power strip? I had one outlet on a power strip blow out - I was about to order a new PS when a buddy suggested I try that.

I get that out of a lot of people but there are so many other factors to look at. The most important is resale value on Apple's is absolutely insane for an electronics item. I've never had a problem selling a mac after years of ownership for excellent prices.

What were you looking at that was $2000? You don't have to go all out, even the massive 27" iMac is around $1700 (smaller models are much less) and 13' macbook pros are barely over a grand.

Again, I am not a computer person, so pretty much just clicking on stuff. Some of that stuff I actually know what it is and does and some I have no clue but my head thinks I may need it. I didnt know there was even a market for used non refurb'd stuff.....I thought whats built today is outdated tomorrow. My ignorance jacks up the price.

I lol'd at resale. I've never even looked at a laptop/computer for resale.

I must admit, those MBP's look good.

It's not something you look at like you do when buying a car, but it's something that exists with apple products. I've never had a hard time unloading their stuff. For instance I had a G5 Powermac that I paid $1800 for in 2004, turned around in 2008 after it was long outdated and sold it for $600.

Not saying resale value is a reason to buy it, but it's a reason to look at why paying a little more.

Plus I don't know anybody that has personally went from apple products for personal use and has switched back due to preference, and I've seen many people switch over the last few years.

Those Apple power adapters have also been prone to catching fire years ago. There was a class action lawsuit on a particular generation. The following gen (not sure if there was a lawsuit or not with that) was responsible for burning my friend's place down.

I guess it just keeps the box at the outlet and runs a single wire to the laptop?

Canon's P&S battery chargers are pretty badass too.....
