Just wanted to let you know if you pick up an R it isnt any safer on base, this coming from a guy who lived on base for 3 yrs.... the first thing you need to do is invest in a quality alarm, back-up battery, gps tracking etc.... yes even in the middle of nowhere people take notice of an R, follow you home, etc....

Been awhile since I've posted.

I appreciate all the advice. I might have a buyer for my G35, so I've been browsing around for a potential replacement. Finally got my Z down to TX so I can go without another car for awhile, maybe until I can get into another NSX.

Let me know if you see any good ITRs in the central-west area of TX, anywhere around San Antonio or Austin.

You can't go wrong with an ITR. Another option if you have the time, is to pick up a theft recovery shell and restore it. It wouldn't be much cheaper if any than just buying one, but the sense of appreciation is there, and so is the respect from many for saving one from the crusher! If I were to go back and get one that I know would be for pretty much track use only, I'd start with a shell.

Having restored an R, you really have to have the love and will to spend a great deal of time, energy, and money into restoring one. I don't have many regrets (other than the $$$ spent), but right now they are so cheap to buy running I can't recommend anything other than going out and buying a running car so you can enjoy it sooner.

As always, keep in mind security items need to be your first mod. If you don't have a garage spot lined up, find one. Otherwise, just get an GS-R and pocket the savings. They are much easily replaced but you can have the same sentimental attachments to one.

These are great caRs though. I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy one!
