No FB = Out of the loop.
Someone should've sent a telegram to Dave notifying of such.

551 started up last night.... couple of codes and a oil leak to take care of. Need to find a throttle cable and get it out for a shakedown this weekend.

well... you both are smarter than I.splat wrote:Cameron is smarter than I am about this shit, but are you finding shock forks intended to work with rigid geometry? From what little research I've done, you end up with funky angles if you just throw a fork on there. It's probably a 1" head tube too, modern chit is bigger. Ride this one into the ground and replace it with used goodness
funky angles =
ride to ground = I plan on it... just want my left arm to not hurt so much while I am doing it.
The new tires/tubes are on.... there has been much improvement!!!
I plan to hit the trails again this Thursday (fingers crossed that I won't have to haul it out once again).

Do you have gloves? Just about all of them have at least some padding, most have gel inserts. Cameron might be able to suggest some more cushioned grips as well - you still have some options before you get to the squishy fork bitsWillard wrote:well... you both are smarter than I.

Where does your arm start hurting? Corresponding pain in the right arm as well? Or is this related to jour old war wounds?

Cheap gloves = numbness in fingertips caused by pinching of median nerve. I tried a pair of Spenco gel flex gloves and they made a world of difference. Their seats are comfy too.splat wrote:Do you have gloves? Just about all of them have at least some padding, most have gel inserts. I <3 my Fox gloves I ride in. Fairly thin however and won't provide much padding. The knuckle protection though will be great when needed.

yeah, my bad. Substantial enough oil leak from ported vtech solenoid so as to prohibit more than a minute or so of run time.Willard wrote:no vids + no rev limitter = no care!!!!

Old wound I guess the only other thing to try would be to really pay attention to keeping your elbows bent, and check your fit to be sure you're not putting extra weight on your hands and wrists.
