I've been running Hawk's exclusively since about 6 years now on all my cars.varing between HPS(winter and street) to Blues and HT-8 and now Ht-10's.
Recently, someone asked me to try Ferodo DS2000. These are suppose to be = to HP+ of Hawk, but there were differences. they didn't have the initial bite but they made much less noise and dust. They did , however, last for 20laps before going away.
My standard set-up is Brembo rotors with HP+. These held up even after 350km at Mosport.
What do you guys use on the track?
What brakes have you tried?
Hawk HP+ for Street/Auto-X/Track with Stock/Brembo Blanks
I have used HPS for street/Auto-X but just not worth the changing. Plus I get HP+ fronts for about $50 a set!
I have heard about the other pads you tried and they got good reviews. I would consider Carbotech, porterfield as great substitutes as well. Applications would be picked based on event

i use porterfield R4S on the street and love them. have had the same ones on for 2 years and they still have atleast another 2 years left.
for the track i've used panther + and ferodo ds3000. braking power is about even, slight edge to the ferodo's. cold bit sucks on the panthers and is great on the ferodo's but the ferodo's seem to be much harder or rotors than the panthers. my autozone track rotors have seen 4 lapping days with the panther's and still looked new. after one day with ferodo's there are stress cracks in one of the rotors. i'll probably switch back to panther +'s or move up to the XP's

x-drill vs slot
X-drilling is quite fashionable and should be used for esthetics only. The drilling distorts the metal and at the same time allows for more opportunities for cracking. Besides, it also reduces swept surface, thus reducing braking ability.
Slots however, release unwanted gases, clean the pad surface and still look reasonably cool. Always my choice.

slotting
Slotting NEW oe rotors is OK. You can't /shouldn't slot used rotors.
