Well with that being said we NEED to be staying in savannah that weekend. Trust me on thiscoolhandluke wrote:I'm with you Steve. It's semi-close as well and I know I would learn something. Andy and Patrick have talked about it several times. That track is supposed to be somewhat easy on the car in terms of brakes/tires.

Roebling will EAT your front left tire. It's easy on brakes because you never really hit them, it's just a bunch of sweeping turns.

Wow. Me want.
Those of you have done your bushings, how much of a bitch is it to do them? Trying to decide if I should figure out a way to do them myself or have them done by a shop

some are easy and some are very very not. And it varies a lot from parts to parts. Some people will have no issues with them and others will not be able to get any of them done to save their life. Also matters if you have access to a decent press.elambz wrote:Wow. Me want.

Yeah, all else equal I'd probably choose Avus over the Alpine but I ain't complaining
Werd...I had a guy do all of my bushings except the RTAs. He's a professional machinist with good equipment, ie no Harbor Freight junk.

Kelly Blue Book value is only $5500 but I guess you don't see to many of them in this condition.
Anyways, I don't know much about BMW's. haha

market value is much higher than book value. One like that would normally go for $8-12k00TypeR1071 wrote:Kelly Blue Book value is only $5500 but I guess you don't see to many of them in this condition.

Yeah....don't think KBB is accurate here. It seems like a good deal from the others on the market.

Yeah, a couple techs said the same. I'll just talk to one of the shops here. Guy has an American Iron race car and most of the guys who do HPDE in this area go to him for work so I'm sure he can do em.

I second the bushings bring a pain but I'm glad it's done. Have a place ready that can press at least your RTAB, the large majority of mine had to be pressed in by a shop.

How reliable are those cars? I'm talking DD reliable.Doespike wrote:Yeah....don't think KBB is accurate here. It seems like a good deal from the others on the market.
I was never that much into BMW's but I always liked the old M3's.
I'm actually thinking about checking this one out since it is located only 20 minutes away from my work.

As long as you take care of preventative maint items when they need to be done they're every bit as reliable as any honda and will last equally as long.00TypeR1071 wrote:How reliable are those cars? What Erik said. Trust me, I wouldn't want one if I always had to fix em. LaZy. Preventative maintenance is the key....replace items before they fail. In my searching and lurking on the BMW forums...I've seen PLENTY of 180-250k mile E36s still running strong.
Check it out dude!!!

Re: The OT place for OGs to BS w/o BS.
All sounds good but the fact that I would use it a DD scares me a little bit. I put about 15k miles a year on a car so this one would have 160k in no time.Erik95LS wrote: As long as you take care of preventative maint items when they need to be done they're every bit as reliable as any honda and will last equally as long.

More than likely I will end up getting an IS300 and I will call it a day.

daily mine at about 20-25k a year. Only cost I've had in the past year has been for consumables and a new door switch.
