How different are they?

Hey Guys im in the market for a type R and i was wondering the performance differences of the 97 to 98 to 00,01?

they are all pretty much the same, except the '00-'01 ITRs have cams with slightly more aggressive duration...which seems to yield a few extra ponies on the dyno.

Plus they also have a different computer and intermediate harness, which is where you'll find a lot of difference in tunning.

As far as the cams, they only changed the intake cam, which is good for a drop in of about 6whp.

Thats it as far as performance....

You won't really notice any performance difference...maybe with mileage but that is about it.

I coudl tell my 98 was slower than my 2000. Dyno plots shows the 98 to make 160 and the 2000 to make 168. Chalk a few ponies up to different days of dyno'ing and I still think the 2000/2001 R's are stronger.
