HI
I got a chance to test drive an 00 with 52000 miles. It had a cai, header, catback and aftermarket wires and coil. I just ran it
through the gears shifting at 8400 a couple of times and felt that it wasent
much faster than my recently stolen 00 Si with cai. the clutch did chatter
slightly taking off in first gear,my question is could a high milage R that
may have been beaten on really hurt the performance? I mean it had the tuning on it but the paint had some fad spots and was not taken care of well. I also never got to take it through its paces in the turns. I am still
gonna get a 00-01 just hope to find one with less than 30,000 when I am ready. thanks for reading!

Re: poor performance with higher milage?
I just happened to be out with my buddy who has an 00 Si (in Canada its called an SiR, same car though, 1.6L 160hp DOHC VTEC) and we have the same bolt ons (intake, exhaust). His car has 110 000Kms and my 01 ITR has 80 000Kms, we both drive the hell out of them but also never miss any oil change or scheduled maintenanace. For the forty horsepower he's giving up to me I barely pull away from him (my car works perfect BTW). Its only noticibly faster in the last 1000 or so RPMs before shifting. The ITR should definetly be faster though. If the one you drove wasn't properly maintained then it probably doesn't work 100%
