security questions
I want to get an R and drive it dailey I park near cameras here in vegas
casinos, and in my garage at night. now even though I would consider
low jack and a compustar with glass breakage sensor has anyone had there car stolen when a thief somehow bypassed the immobilizer? how good a system is it? I had my 2000 si stolen with a factory alarm. I have
an 03 si with the immobilizer with a viper responder, and feel safe enough
as I dont plan to tune it at all just run my 3 year lease out and get a 00-01
PY R. I guess my question is what can I do do safely drive an R dailey? do
i need lojack, great alarm the club and the break steering wheel lock? all
coments appriciated. thanks in advance.

Re: security questions
I'd get a good alarm, honostly thats about all you can do really.. I mean, you can spend tons on all these security advices, but bottom line is, if the thieves want the car that bad, they're gonna take it whether it has a alarm, bodyguards, or chained to a military tank... Best think to do is make sure you have an alarm and insurance theft for it...

for all of your tuning, parts, fabrication and other service needs.
Here's a couple ideas,
-get an two-way alarm- for theft a DETERRENT and to make noises and starter kill
-get a lojack- for better POSSIBILITY of recovery
-wire up a simple relay circuit that cuts off power to the fuel pump or power to the distributor (using a either a hidden switch or a plain view OEM <ie:defrost button, horn button> to activate or de-activate the circuit)
This way, if they get past the alarm w/starter kill, thehe car wont' run is it doesn't get a spark or fuel.
places you can hide your switch:
-inside your seat, hog out some foam cushion, put switch in, press button though the fabric of your seat
- mount low profile switch under carpet,
- use one of your OEM steering wheel horn buttons.
i have many ideas for disabling a car, these are just a couple. This won't stop them from stripping your car right in the parking lot though!

Re: security questions
i think maybe you can have these new car security also for motorcycles... its a camera security system... its like a tiny or near micro camera/cameras mounted on inside angles to view both inside n outside of car n also feat some sort of sensor like a body heat sensor, a 2.5 inch height/.5 inch thick remote features a screen so u can moniter your car... best thing is to get a great security alarm system with shock n window senors w/ pager, a lo jack, n the micro camera security.... the camera is awsome, i didnt know there was one in tha car but i was being watched tha whole time by my boyfriend while fixing my hair/changing shirts in the car waiting for my boyfriend to get back from tha bank
Re: security questions
I guess a top of the line alarm system, kill switch on fuel pump and / or ignition, hide your VIN,and a tracking system.
Even then you can never be 100% safe, but its always better to put all the chances on your side.
Oh and one last thing, if werent paranoid, let me tell you, you'll be paranoid when you get a R.
Thats one of the downsides of owning a R paranoia..which sometimes is driving me nuts!

Re: security questions
I've heard of lots of Rs stolen even with the immobilizer. One easy thing to do is make sure you relocate the hood release cable so they can't just reach in and pop it.

i have an auto lock and i use it every time i think that im not going to be around for a while.
my friend had an autolock on his legend and he lost the key well it took him and his dad 2 hours and i think he said 5 hack saw blades just to get through the stainless bar that holds he clutch soo i dont think any theif is going to sit there for that long jsut to get your car.
as for some more hiding spots for the kill switch, or gas cut off switch
in the center consel theres 4 blank covers by the e-brake, the top passenger side one can be poped out if you stick your hand in there and feel for it , i would put something in there cause that one seem very hard to find(especially if its goin to the fuel pump causae the pupms like 2 feet away)

I have the http://www.compustar.org alarm and I guess it scares of some would-be theifs ( maybe cause it has a pager in it)
But the best thing to do is use your best judgement when leaving your caR parked-
Oh and a hidden fuel pump kill switch is one of the simplest and best things to stop them from driving away.
