Clutch Noise

Post by valentinecr »

I was hearing a chattering noise comming from my transmission and acrua said that it is a spring in the clutch but the can be sure unless they tear out my transmission and look at it.

I was talking to someone else and they said that this was a defect in the ITR clutch, i was wondering if anyone has heard of this before?

Thanks

PS. i didn't wear out the clutch, i just bought the car like 3 months ago, i have come to the conclusion that the guy who had it before me raged the you know what out of it and i got all of his problems I already had the transmission replaced once becuase of a bad syncro in third

Oh well this is all just my luck i guess

The noise is when the clutch pedal is out and only in 1st and 2nd gear at 4000 RPMs and when you are at wide open throttle. When the throttle is 1/4 or 1/2 or 3/4 open you don't hear it.

The acura dealer says it is a spring in my clutch that has come loose but the can't be sure unless they take my transmission out and charge me a min of $500, since the clutch isn't covered under warrenty.

Hey wassup,
I know exactly what your are saying on the clutch noise.. It makes like a screeching noise when your taking off on 1st to 2nd and sometimes on a different gear if you punch it..
I have the same problem and had it checked out and I found out the hard way since since the warranty was going to cover it if the clutch was stock..
Found out the clucth was after market, warranty not covering so my ass has to pay...742.00 .. mainly because of labor
Anyways the part i think is called some type of ball bearing spring which clucthes have . its costs 35-50 stock and aftermarket which i need is about 60 bucks.... The killer thing is the labor is about 500.00..
Good luck....Dealer told me it's nothing serious but I should get it changed .

My clutch is stock, and the thing is that my acura dealer said that it wasen't covered under my warrenty?

I really hope they are not trying to pull a fast one on me

You can tell the dealer since they say it's a defective clutch it has to be covered under warranty. . Depending on how many miles the R has..If it's over the 48k warranty than your out of luck and I would go elsewhere to get the part and do the labor (someone professional or some who knows what they are doing) if that's the case.
