4lug jdm itr swap
4lug jdm itr swap
I am in the process of buying the 4lug jdm itr swap. But I have a issue. I have a 99' gsr integra. Do I buy gsr coilovers, or do I buy type r coilovers for it? Also, will my handbrake cable and factory brake master cylinder from my gsr work properly with this suspension setup?
Why would you bother with a JDM 4 lug conversion? If I am not mistaken all you did was maintain the same number of wheel studs and screw up your wheel bolt pattern so that you have less aftermarket wheel choice.
There is absolutely NO benefit to doing this. 5 Lug maybe but marginal.
SAVE YOUR MONEY.
To Answer your question you will need Type-R suspension if you change the rear lower control arms.

4lug
the reason is the 4 lug has the same brakes as the 5 lug, I am doing it for the brake system, my calipers are very old and not holding, to rebuild them is 325.00. All 4 rotors are too thin to resurface and need replacing, my pads are half burned. It is cheaper to buy the jdm 4lug for 420.00 shipped, then sell the gsr swap for 250.00 to my aware friend. You said that type r suspension was only needed if I use type r REAR arms? Is that it, what if I used gsr rear arms, then I would use gsr springs and struts for front and back? I didnt know type r's and gsr's springs and struts were the same up front, and only different in the back. Is that what your saying? Please specify and thank you tremendously for your help in this matter. Also, I would like a 5lug over a 4, but 900.00-1100.00 for the swap, 400.00-600.00 for 5 lug wheels, then 350.00 for new good tires is too much. This company will give me the whole 4 lug conversion with wheels and tires for 1140.00 shipped, as compared to 1650.00-2050.00. I am more of a bang for the buck kinda of guy, plus its different as no-one around here has it, and most have never known about it. There are also alot of type r haters around here who steal the wheels, and drive by with bricks and hammers that throw at them whencant be stolen. Its childish and ignorant. At least maybe they wont try to steal them as bad, as for the bricks...who knows.
Something doesn't sound right. You have a 99 GSR and it is having brake problems? I suppose if you put a lot of miles on it that coudl be but there is not really anyway the calipers need to be rebuilt. All you really need are new pads and rotors which can be had for about $150-$200 and you will need to spend this money either way. You can get some really nice pads for that and the difference between the R caliper and the GSPR caliper when talking about having a 4x114.3 bolt pattern is not worth the trad offs. I promise there is a better way than the conversion.
That said, the R and the GSR both have the same mounting design in the front and the difference is in the rear. There might be shocks designed just for the R in the front but it is due to damping and spring rates and they will always work on any 94-01 integra.

Also, you can buy a brand new caliper from Autozone for $45.
That woudl mean $90 to rebuild not $300. That said I still think you are not in need of a caliper rebuild.

You have a 99 GSR and you said your calipers are old and not holding ... yet you plan to buy an ITR 4 lug conversion. Are you aware that this system is from a mid 90s ITR (i.e., older than what you've got).
Before you order the swap, consider getting new brake pads, rotors, fluid, and maybe even new tires. Your calipers shouldn't be worn out yet, but there always is the possibility of a frozen piston, etc.
