june3 help?

Post by PaulB »

Hi Guys,

How much cam gear adjusting is required to get some power out of my ITR race car w/June3's?
We just put the cams set on my fresh b18C5 w/H-I-ecu. Here are the results...

stock ITR cams 177WHP w/flat tuned a/f 13.4 :)

june3's w/springs 179WHP w/flat tuned a/f 13.4 the cams actually made less power until around 7800-8400. Cam gears at zero.

What is up with this???

Do these cams need some serious compression to work well? I've seen posts with other stock bottom ends making decent power??? The leak down was great! I can't imagen that cam gear adjustments would bring it up to the 10-15 WHP that I expected.

What do you guys think?

I'm putting the stock ones back on if we can't get this thing up by the weekend!

13.4 is a bit too rich
try going 13.7-13.8 and see if you don't make some good power.

You probably want to advance the intake cam and retard the exhaust cam. You will have to play with it to et it riht. Don't forget for every adjustment of the intake cam the timing needs to be reset.

What are you using to tune the air/fuel and timing?

Do you have before and after dyno graphs? It's all about area under the curve, not peak numbers.

I've seen JUN3s make close to and above 200whp on a stock bottom end b18c5. Make sure the air flow path can support the cams (i, TB, IM, h, e) and you've got a nice programmable ECU.

That's the question I want to know also.

Also, don't tune for a certain A/F. All motors are different and there is no "magical" AFR that works for all setups.

Hi guy's,
We removed the June 3's.........put back in late ITR's and tuned the a/f with V-AFC2 and Mugen ECU to the safest/most hp. I sent the loaner back to Mugen that BTW made 3-4 WHP more than the one I have... even after correcting to the same a/f's. So that's were I am....

I've got to take off the friggin Motons and race H2....
What was I thinking???

I do have a plug question though.....new post.

Thanks for the help,
Paul
