i just bought a 01 type r from a hole in the wall dealership. i checked everything out but what i noticed later on was that i currently have a GSR head with a skunk2 manifold. i cant tell what kind of cams i have and also. the car runs strong.and when i did a compression check on it. all 4 cylinders are shooting out 225 psi. i tried doing a search but i cant get my answers...
basically i heard its good for people to use the other way around. which is a gsr block with a type r head. so my question is: how good is this motor? is this faster than a stock type r? and where should be my redline at? i cant tell whats in this motor.
i currently added:
-jdm apexi headers with 2.5 flange.
-spoon test pipe
-apexi n1 exhaust
-real spoon ecu with harness
-spoon drop in filter
this has been stressing me since i realized i was using a p72-2 head.
please help.. thanks
someone please help. i have a type r with a gsr head

To my knowledge, the only way to find out what valve springs you have is to pull them off & measure spring tension & height. Trey's right...you shouldn't have any problems, but I'd be concerned about the install job.
I think it would be worth my time to find out who the previous owner was & get the skinny.

actually the GSR head will give you a bit more compression than the ITR head just worry about cams and valve springs
