novice at the track

Post by Kangbateh »

I'm not really into drag racing, but i'm into road courses and I was wondering if any of you guys can give a novice advice on how to drag race at the track. What to do and what not to do?

Drop the pressure in your front tires a little bit at first and then experiment to see if you need to go lower (don't go too low with street tires 20-22 at a minimum). Try launching around 4500-5000 rpms. Again, experiment to see what works for you. Ease up to stage and get both pairs of little lights to come on. Take off when you see the second yellow come on (this takes practice to not red light - leave too early). Even if you do red light, complete the run like you didn't ... you still should get a time registered.

It really boils down to figuring out what works for you and then working on consistency to make your techniques the same everytime. Practice is key.

4,500 is a little low...

he's my .02:
rev to 5,500, slip the clutch a bit, hold the throttle RIGHT WERE IT IS until you gain traction and THEN FLOOR IT. If you have decently sticky tires that should put you into 2.1 60fts
