Lojack - worthwhile??

Post by 40calpal »

My friends civic del slow got stolen from his house yesterday and found burnt up in the woods (i know its kinda funny :o ) and i'm worried my car may be stolen so i was thinking about getting that Lojack put in. I need to know if anyone has it in their car or if it even works. Does it require a one time payment or do u pay monthly for service? I just don't wanna pay money for something that doesn't work well or is pointless

It's worth it, if you also have other anti-theft measures. I believe LoJack now has pager feature added to their system. Paging alarm is a must, so you know exactly when the car is being taken from your possession. Without a pager, LoJack is only good if the police department is cooperative in looking for the car. If you don't find the car within 24-48 hours, you can kiss the car good bye.

It's not a pager, but rather an early-warning system. If anyone moves your car without the proper device on their keychain, lojack will call you. My neighbor tried it the other day, they called him within 10 minutes.

I have the lo-jack with early warning and I paid a one time fee of $800 from the acura dealership and it is good for life. They will come and test it every two years and I got an e-mail lately reminding me to check the battery in my early warning system. this and the immobilizer, the viper
responder alarm and my brake lock I feel some what secure. I still try
to park near a video camera when ever possible.
