Hondata Questions

Post by Boosted R 25 »

I am considering going with the Hondata instead of the AEM. Since my shop only tunes AEM, I will have to take it to another shop that is about 4o min away. Anyways, I was just wondering...

how much it costs total?

do i need to buy a conversion harness?

How long does it take for the Install and a good tune?

Can it be used as a boost controller?

Is it a 3-D Map (in other words - will the amount of fuel being given to the engine, adjust with the amount of boost i will have?)

Will it be safe running a greddy boost controller with so i can switch form high (10 psi) to low (6 psi)??

And what are you thoughts on the system overall?

THanks guys.

check your dealer, but about a grand should do it, s200 with boost, and Hondata ECU which already plugs right into an obd2 plug

do i need to buy a conversion harness?
not if you buy the Hondata ecu

installation takes about 30 minutes if that, mine took about 6-7 dyno pulls maybe 2 hours

not that I know of, I think you can get a boost cut feature, but check the website to be sure

yes

Will it be safe running a greddy boost controller with so i can switch form high (10 psi) to low (6 psi)??
why would you want to do that, just leave it at 10

It is beautiful. My car is a totally different animal now with Hondata. 8)

THanks guys.[/quote}

I was looking at the site and I thought i would have to buy the s200 (for $295) and the boost feature (for $200) and thats all........what is the Hondata ECU that you were speaking of, i thought that was the s200 part......i don't get that.

Also, i use my car as a daily driver and i don't want to have it at 10 psi just for going around (too much wear on the engine) I am one of the biggest worriers about my car.

You can alway use like a p28 ecu or p72 but you still have to get a conversion harness. It would be better to get the ecu already. Hondata won't work on a p73 ecu like the factory type r has.

Ok, I will just get the Hondata ECU, but what exactly is it? (i.e. where on the site is it, what is the specific name, how much does it cost?)

it is a socketed P28 for OBD2. you can also find a 2b, 3b, and 4b for decent prices on honda-tech used. I have the 4b in my room with a 3 bar map sensor. it has all options including 2 step rev limit and full throttle shifts
