Whats the advantage of having them in a basically stock 98 ITR... are they better than the USDM itr ones?? *Jus Wondering*

one advantage is that ctr pistons have higher compression then usdm itr pistons. The compression is ~12.1-1. Usdm is 10.6-1. So higher compression could lead to more power depending on other mods and tuning of course. I personally run jdm itr pistons and am very satisfied with them. The compression is ~11.0-1, just right imo

isnt 12.1:1 pretty high..

yea it's high, i personally wouldn't go with them unless it is a race car not daily driven. too much of a hassle.

No, you can run on pump gas pretty easily on 12:1.

Is there a difference between "B16" pistons and "CTR" pistons?

I swear, I think Sakai said I was getting B16 pistons. Knowing him, that might be a compromise as far as the C/R goes so that there's no problem w/pump octane.

Say on stock cams or mild cams like Toda A's, are there any gains to be seen swaping in JDM ITR pistons?

Yeah, the P30 pistons. Quick search says they should be good for 11.2:1 or 11.4:1 compression, depending on whether they are US or JDM spec.

I see why he'd want to use the 11.4:1 compression instead of the CTR.

It'll give him a lot of tuning options so that he can bring the cams on lower in the RPM range and stay on pump octane.

Makes perfect sense.

I've seen steve talk about using B16 pistons and not CTR pistons.

I've got the CTR pistons in my 98-R with stock everything. Raced a 01 Prelude SH w/ AEM CAI on the Highway and slowly pulled on it.

Not that I condone street racing... But a stock R will eat up a SH on the hiway or street or track. so if you were only slowly pulling on it either he had more then he said OR your car is slow.

I concur! When my R was stock and my Ex-Brother in laws Lude (VTEC) non SH was stock. I still pulled on him. Oh and BTW the VTEC non-SH ludes are slightly lighter than the SH's. So against an SH you should pull even harder!
