Water injection vs intercool on JRSC 10-11 boost.

Post by rAtEdR_WiTbOoSt »

K guys i got the JRSC high boost kit (blower, hondata, injectors etc) for my 01 cdn spec type r. Only got 15k on it.
either way im getting cold plugs and a JR water injector (water/alcohol mix) to keep it cool @ 8 psi but WILL IT HANDLE 10-11 PSI.
That kit killed my wallet so intercooler is not in the budget but do i need one for 10-11 psi.

Also adding comptech header and catty. Any adivce opinions or facts are greatly appreciated.

I'm in the same boat as ratedr, except I can afford the LHT intercooler. But I'm not entirely convinced about supercharging reliability. Help from the gurus would be nice.

With a good tune, you should be fine.

I would no go with a comptech header. The supercharger will work better with a header that has short primaries and a nice fat collector. I would reccomend the kamikaze header (about $249 new) or the endyn modified kamikaze header ($309 new). Another option is the LHT header, but that is $995 with little gain over the previous two.

Since you are going to be running highboost, you may also want to think about having the blower rebuilt. Running high boost can really decrease the life of the blower. Having it rebuild and modified will extend its life and also its efficency. LHT will port the S-tube for $100 + shipping IIRC. Endyn will do a full overhaul on the blower for about $1400, which IMHO is worth it for what you get (reworking the S-tube, blower case, inlet manifold, and bypass housing It also comes with a 3" boost upgrade blower pulley). People who have had the endyn modification tend to run lower intake temps under high boost than I do under just 5.5psi.
