Question for ya? What's the purpose of wanting to upgrade camshafts?....You know your going to have to upgrade Valvetrain as too...right? Jun Stage 3 & Toda B are some very serious power and coin out of the pocket! Again, I got to ask another question? What's your current setup on your R....what's been modified or is it still stock? All these questions have a factor in building up your car and engine properly!

I got aem CAI, mugen 4-1 header and mugen twin loop exhaust. These are on my itr
I have crower rods, and crower springs and titanium retainers that are ready to be installed.
I also have a apex vafc still need to be installed.
Wanna throw everything in at once.
Gonna be street driven mostly. Cause I don't have a track near me.
So which is it, toda B or jun 3? Thanks

Your going to need more then a VAFC to tune with cams.
Mugen header & exgaust is nice but there is better.
Why do you want to replace your rods with crower rods?

I would try other methods to get power out of the motor with out opening it.
Such as better exhaust, better intake & ECU.

I must say - "You're killing me!".

To each his own, but you are blowing $$ like it's nothing. All for a 'street' car? Holy shit!

Anytime you're going to spend more money on the motor than the rest of the car = silliness...

BTW - I'm a financial advisor & I thought I was blowing my retirement - whew - joo got me beat!

By the time you're done, just go buy a corvette & be done with it.

Good Luck.

I can probably buy a SMSP header with a 2 week pay check.
I got no bills, living with my brother and his wife atm, but I help a little to pay rent.

Anyone else able to help? These are some nice headers.

corvette? $36K for a 12.8 car. Bought my car for $15,000 plus some of the parts. I believe I can spend less on my car to get to that time. Pretty sure of it. But not planning to modify to heavy now.
I just wanna put bolt ons on that would make the most power.
Pretty sure the SMSP parts will do it.
Seen an itr making close to 200whp with SMSP headers, exhaust, carsound cat, comtech icebox, and a hondata for tuning. All bolt ons and no internal engine work. 200whps with just bolt ons is NICE!!!

I have delt with Dave a few times at SMSP and nothing but helpful and reasonable prices. I just call there and talk to him directly, no waiting for e-mails...

As for the power between the aem cai and Ice box... I had the aemcai for 3.5 years and I never had any problems with it (despite the so called water problem) But I hear that the icebox will make less noise and slightly more power in the low to mid range but about the same up top.

I'm currently looking for a Icebox or mugen... Used of course.

I'm glad things are going well for you...

If you would like my perspective - I have no bill except my house & the new Denali (tow vehicle)...

I'm a financial advisor by profession. I love to spend money & help other do as well. However, if you are young & can afford to blow $1500 every couple weeks on your car - good for you. I'm guessing you are around 25 years old & it just kills me to see all that $$ blown when you could really set yourself up nicely...time is your friend when it comes to investing.

btw - I am responsible for marketing at my firm. I DO NOT sell to retail investors, so this is in NO WAY constituting a sales pitch of any product or investment vehicle. cool?

Anyway, I'm glad to see your brother and his wife don't mind helping you out. I did the same thing for my future brother-in-law ~10 years ago...it seems to have worked out nicely for both of us.

Peace -

But this isn't what these forums are about lol. This is ITRCA and I'm here for car questions on my 1998 itr.
I haven't bought anything for my car because
I am researching 1st.

smsp headers are the way to go. good choice. if not the smsp headers, i'd go with the hytech headers. both are pretty pricy, but good choice for all motors. keep me up dated on your set up.
