VTEC Not Working

Post by Teknik_DC2 »

I have a 2000 Type R with a Jackson Racing Supercharger on it. back in Febuary i had a misshift and bent all my exhaust valves. after i got it back from the shop from having the valves replaced VTEC just didn't seem to be there anymore. I asked around on this site and others and people told me that you can't feel that transission to VTEC cause of the Blower and so forth. Yet i could feel it before the misshift. anyways I always thought it wasn't there cause my car was lossing its top end power at around 6,500. Now fast forward to two days ago. I broke the supercharger belt so i'm running N/A untill the new belt gets here tomorrow. So i opened it up to where we set my VTEC point when we tunned it at 5,100 and theres nothing. No VTEC loudness or kick. So what could my problem be. First thing i did was check and toped off my oil. still nothing. So next were going to check my selonoid. What are things to look for while checking it. also what else could it be if thats not it. could the shop have messed up on something in the head? Any help will be appreciated. Sorry for the long post.

Are you throwing any MIL codes (CEL)?

That would likely help narrow down the problem, but a VTEC Solenoid is a likely candidate.

nope no codes at all. but the car is running Neptune so its converted to OBD-1. I wouldn't get the codes if there are any.

Possible solenoid they do go bad and still dont throw a code. I would check vtec solenoid assemble screen between assembly and cylinder head. 2-If they just put your head back to gether they may of left something out like the oil control orifices on the end of the cam plates. Check solenoid first and youll probaly find the problem.
