edelbrock throttle body
i just installed an edelbrock 65mm CARB legal throttle body and Skunk 2 pro series intake manifold. however, since installing, i have been having horrible trouble with my idle. it will not want to idle when cold, then when hot it is at 900 then if i drive it it is just over 1k and if i hit vtec it is surging from 1500-2500. does anyone have experience with the edelbrock tb because that is the only thing i can think of that might cause this as i have never heard of this problem with the skunk2 manifold. oh, and btw, i am getting a cel for the iacv and have replaced it 2 times and it is still being a problem.
thanks,
jon

I was primarily concerned about the iacv wiring, did you test it per the manual? (if there is a test section in it). This sound like IACV all the way, and I highly doubt that you just keep getting bad IACVs. My bet is still on the IACV related wiring.b18cinteg96 wrote:there really is no wiring. and yes i have checked it. the only wires there are is the tps, the map, the iacv. i have checked the vacuum hoses for leaks. i have checked the gaskets for leaks. and they are all fine.

yeah i am running the stock ecu, but it is the same ecu that runs my friends 2.0L itr fine. I have just ordered 2 new throttle body gaskets as well as the "8" o-ring on the iacv. i know the iacv is good because it came off my old motor and worked fine. I think my original was fine as well becasue it worked until i installed the im and tb. I'll keep everyone posted on what fixes it.
Problem
1-Bleed the coolant
2-Make sure you used the gasket with the EDELBROCK throttle body
3-Make sure you have the MAP and TPS plugged in to the right sensor (yes they can get flipped flopped)
4-Hopefully you just unbolted the IACV valve and didnt unhook the lines cause you may have the lines backwards and causing a hunting idle for the fact the cars looking for a cold start valve which you aint got
Try these things and your problem lies in there.
Also did he scrap all the old gasket material off the head?? May have a leak there.

I had a similar problem my vacuum line pooped out also my throttle cable was loose i could feel by giving some throttle that it would stick sometimes. U should check and adjust the cable also there is a long screw with a spring underneath the butterfly on the throttle body check if it's loose
