2000 Phoenix Yellow Integra Type R
Oil
I started with Castrol Syntec 5/50 and later switched to Mobil 1 15/40.
I'm back to Castrol becuase it seems to consume about 1/2 liter less per oil change.
Both are excellent oils and my driving style is constant with both.

from what I have read in the past two years most ITRs will burn a quart within the 3000 mile period before the oil change. The exception is the R that don't burn oil or less oil.
I have burned a quart of oil on most of my past cars with in the 3000 miles before the oil change and thats a wide range- 93 thunderbird SC, 94 Explorer, 97 G.cherokke, 85 RX7, 86 AE86 and many more...

Oil consumption
I was alarmed at first but later was told that is was completely normal.
I have no mods at all and have 70000km. I do extensive track days (24 this year) and the car consumes 1 litre per track day or every 5000km street .
It doesn't puff blue or black and the plugs are perfect....so were does the oil go.?... beats me.
P.S. While we are on the subject I recommend that you set your oil level 1/2 between the marks...never full up...it will consume less at this level.

I use Redline 10W30. It seems to work well, especially for boosted applications. I consume a little oil my self.

every integra I have owned burned mobil 1 worse than others. Try a different brand and keep us posted.ITR862 wrote:I do consume oil. I thought about changing to something like redline oil. Right now i use mobil 1 syn. 5w 30. The price doesnt bother me cause i only want the best for my r. Plus its not like i have to change my oil every week. just about once a month.

Mobile 1 5-30 for life!!
Since day 1 I have used Mobil 1 5-30 synthetic only. It is very expensive compared to all the other brands but is the most efficient, and that is what Honda recommends.... and who am I to question Honda?? Integra Type R's are designed to use 5-30, and if your using anything else your not treating your Type R the way you should be. However my car does burn alot of this stuff between oil changes... at least 1 quart and a half. This is normal with most B-series motors with significant mileage on them. But most of us who burn alot of oil have our motors modified and are running a little bit hotter, so this is typical. I myself am running very rich at this point in time and once I get the problem fixed I'm sure it won't be as bad a problem once I get the VAFC.
It is good stuff. Had to go 5500 miles between oil changes this time and there was no problem since the stuff is rated to go 15,000 miles.2000R wrote:I run AMSoil also.Trey wrote:I used Mobil1 in all my integras and always burned a quart between oil changes.
