I had mine bored. Cost me like $100 if that. It is a taper bore meaning that the butterfly end stays the same and it "tapers" out to 70mm. Spoon spec basically. I believe the butterfly end stock on an ITR is 62mm. Most peeps that are considering an upgrade in the TB area would want a bigger bore at the butterfly, ie: 68-72 or 70-72 or 70-74.
Would I do it again? Hard to say. Maybe. If I were running a lot of boost or a huge N/A set-up *cough, cough, Bradstard, cough, cough* then it would seem to be more relevant.
Just my $0.02.

Hmm... I didn't know that the spoon TB still has the same size butterfly. Ill cross that off the list then.white rocket wrote:I had mine bored. Cost me like $100 if that. It is a taper bore meaning that the butterfly end stays the same and it "tapers" out to 70mm. Spoon spec basically.
So my original question wasn't really answered, what would be a good size for my engine? And a good brand to go along with it?

http://www.maxbore.com - best pricing, great turnaround time- if you send the itr TB he can make it 65mm taperd to 70! which IMP is suitable for alot of NA type setups.

I still say, maximize your intake potenial first, then worry about the TB.neo_ wrote: So my original question wasn't really answered, what would be a good size for my engine? And a good brand to go along with it?
Once you have maxed out the intake you can adjust your TB to the proper volume needed.
<-- Just my .02

Show me Dyno graphs of the AEM 3" vs the Mugen please. Everyone says its better, but I haven't seen a dyno of them compared.Bbasso wrote:I still say, maximize your intake potenial first, then worry about the TB.neo_ wrote: So my original question wasn't really answered, what would be a good size for my engine? I can't really see my buying a $650 intake. I might just as well dump a little more cash and get ITB's.

Increasing the bore of a single throttle body should be one of the very last things you do to your motor build.
Almost everything else will be a better return for the money.
For example, the Spoon throttle body will give you about 2 HP in addition to all your other improvements. It will give you the edge against other cars in a race, if everybody is otherwise adhering to the rules, but you can see that it's a relatively high price to pay for 2 HP.
