Ats fd

Post by chue f lee »

was thinking about getting the ats fd.
Anyone knows if a bigger fd will be slower in the quarter mile?
I changed the fd on an itr to 4.9 in GT3 for PS2, and actually got slower times???Look like it went through the powerband to quick...
But i was thinking if redline was bumped up it might stay in the powerband longer and not slow it.
Anyone help me with this TY

On a stock caR, I'm willing to bet it helps.
I have driven (Brad's) a super sweet R with just about everything NA and it had the FD done and all I can say is when the redline is 9500+ all is fun!

I'd ask around and get first hand reviews.

But remember, traction might be an issue too ;)

Personally, I would say a faster 1/4 time. Think about it. When you make the FD longer, your in term shortening your gears. So yes, you'll go throug gears faster, but you'll also accelerate faster. If it were say a full mile, I'd say no because your closer to top speed, but in shorter distances I'd have to say yes.

The only reason you should have slower time is because you spin the heck out of the tires in 1st.

Without, and stock I went 14.4 here in FL. Elevation was on my side. You should see similar results for those who have been out there and practiced. It's a fine art to launch the car in Vtec and not let it fall out.

I'm planning to build an all motor r. 200whp+.
I heard that ats fd isn't good for 200whp+. Is it because of traction issues?
I'm thinking I'm gonna be moving the gears maybe to quick? I got a lightweight ls crank, planning on light flywheel. May be a jdm fd is better suited for me what do you guys think?

Blah - they don't have any experience with these cars... j/k

We LOVE King. Hopefully, Scot will help support our Expo again. Hmmm, maybe we can get Bob Endicott out to the track again too.

Ok, took the car out tonight and I can tell you this with the ATS FD and with my recent mods. (I/H/E)

1st is spin spin spin
2nd is spin spin grab
3rd is spin grab go.

Well, at least my first pass was like that. A whopping 17.99!!! Track conditions weren't that great either.

By the end of the night I managed at 14 flat @ 101MPH. I could have hit 13's if 2nd woudn't have spun so much. Oh well. I had fun.
