If I were you I'd very strongly suggest looking into the PowerFC. Its much more stable than hondata and far easier to use. I've heard of a ton of problems with hondata, but none with the PowerFC. Not badmouthing either, just stating a few things to think about.walker111 wrote:

Talk to jack, he'll tell you everything you could possibly want to know and I cant' think of anyone who would know better what route would be best.

A good friend of mine had lots of problems with his hondata holding maps on his boosted gsr and wound up ditching it after several months of work. I've also seen a number of threads over there, although not recently, about data corruption on the maps. I haven't looked into as I'm not using or planning to use hondata though. Like I said I'm just stating some things I've heard that he may want to look into.Dave_B wrote:How is hondata unstable? I've never heard this before? Though I've also never used the PowerFC either. Just looking for an explanation.

Hrm. Imma gonna have to look into that. Any specific models this was happening on? I know they updated a few models not so long ago.Erik95LS wrote:A good friend of mine had lots of problems with his hondata holding maps on his boosted gsr and wound up ditching it after several months of work. yeah, my dumbass had replaced a fuse into the wrong slot when sorting the starting issueDave_B wrote:Erik, you get the dash lights thing figured out yet?
Also, are you running a front sway bar for track? I'm thinking about taking mine off for the next event.
I have the stock ITR front and rear bars on my car with the stock suspension. Car rotates beautifully. What are your spring rates again? Chris93si has 10kf 6kr on his car with the 23mm jdm rear bar and his car was damn near perfect for me. I'd perfer some higher rear rates though. That bar makes a drastic difference though.

I have no idea. I dont' know much of anything about hondata.....I just know I'd much rather have an actual standalone than it. Thats just me though. I'm sure if they really had a problem as big as that they would have it sorted by now.Dave_B wrote:

Mine is setup with 12/14k front and rear. The stock sways are on it right now. Instead of spending more money on the next track event I was thinking either a split in PSI front and rear, about 4-5 PSI or front sway bar off with equal PSI front and rear. So many choices.
I'm unfortuately not allowed a full stand alone. Stupid rules...Erik95LS wrote:I have no idea. I'm trying to keep the car conforming to the rules should I eventually get into SCCA/NASA. I'm sure it's probably sorted but I'd still like to read up on what caused/what models and all of that.

I'd defiitely try the tire pressure offset, but dont' mess with it much at all while at the track. just get used to the car and sort things later. I can't imagine your car understeering as badly as you say it is. I dont' know about the front sway, but I think the 23mm bar would help you out pretty well and its very inexpensive and requires 0 modification. Might be worth a shot.

Relevent question: do you guys know any online sites that explain the 1-2-3's a of suspension, springs, shocks, etc. I'm trying to wrap my head around the topic, especially rates. I found a few sources that explained parts of it, but not the whole picture.Dave_B wrote:LOL. Yeah, I don't want to change much but I know for sure the car is pushing a bit. I'm most likely going to only change the tire pressure for now and see what happens. Or I can keep the front sway and go with a bigger rear. Also, for turn in I can make some dampner changes but all of that will come later. I just want to feel comfortable at speed and on the track.Erik95LS wrote:I'd defiitely try the tire pressure offset, but dont' mess with it much at all while at the track. just get used to the car and sort things later. Not off the top of my head but over "there" you could PM PIC performance and speak to Al or Jim and either of them could explain it. As for a site though that gives a good break down, I'm not really sure.Doespike wrote:Relevent question: do you guys know any online sites that explain the 1-2-3's a of suspension, springs, shocks, etc. I'm trying to wrap my head around the topic, especially rates. where in the turn are you experiencing the understeer? how are you entering/going through the turn? I'm wondering if maybe theres something you can change in your driving that would help to minimze it. Not sayign you're screwing up, just trying to help.Dave_B wrote:Yeah, I don't want to change much but I know for sure the car is pushing a bit.
