the convienience, the quaife, price, and the fact that if you really want a JDM front you can do it yourself and do it right. I've seen alot of those things completely butchered. Plus the engine and that it was maintained by that guy....Just seems like the logical choice to me. Not to mention that if he's ready to sell you coudlessentially be driving it tomorrow.Dave_B wrote:Reasoning?Erik95LS wrote:I'd have to go with the 98 also. It definitely seems like the best choice.

Yeah, true. Anybody want a Spoon engine? I'll trade for an ITR swap plus cash!!! As for the maintenance, yeah it was a Honda technician person. It's actually a she and She's now a Corvette tech for a local Chevy dealership. I'll have to look at the body tomorrow and see what kind of condition it's in and all. If it's really huge dents, I'll be getting the car cheaper, or not at all. I do have to make this decision by tomorrow though, so that's where I'm at. Well along with this....Erik95LS wrote:the convienience, the quaife, price, and the fact that if you really want a JDM front you can do it yourself and do it right. Are these the absolute cheapest GSR's that you can find?
If I were you, I would take advantage of the fact that you can do lots of your work yourself and get cars painted cheaply. Find the cheapest, running Integra (doesn't even NEED to be a GSR, IMO) that you can find and fix any problems that arise. Look for one that needs paint, so much so, that most other people aren't interested in purchasing it.
Buying cars that are pre modified are for those who don't have the means to modify it themselves, IMO.
$3500 stock GSR
$800 for paint/materials
$800 for PIC suspension
$250 for rear upper camber kit
$1000 for wheels/tyres
$2000 for JDM front end
$500 for new rotors/pads/fluid
$400 for Comptech rear swaybar kit
------------
$9250
So even with my rough estimates, you've still got around $2k to play with.
I didn't include an engine rebuild into the price, as you already stated that you're going to build an engine with boost in mind (regardless of which car you pick up).
Personally, I'd rather buy a stock car and make it completely my own, then buy a car with even an intake and exhaust.

I totally understand what your saying. The only problem with that though is I can't finance a lump sum of 10k for all of that. They are going to go off of NADA value of the car and finance that. It does have to be a black integra, and I'd prefer the GS-R to start with if possible.Reid wrote:Are these the absolute cheapest GSR's that you can find?

I have searched high and low around here for a Black GS-R, all stock and they are nowhere to be found. My search even included up to 15k for one, though I wouldn't pay that for it. If out of state, then I go through the entire hassle again.

Yes, but they have "value" because it's a Spoon engine. For what reasons I have no idea. I just look at it as a low mileage B18C. I was kinda kidding though on a trade for an ITR engine. Now a K20A2 maybe. That I'd probably do even swap for.98 CW ITR 322 wrote:Hey all! *waves*Anybody want a Spoon engine? I'll trade for an ITR swap plus cash!!!
Dave why trade a spoon for an ITR? Isn't a Spoon just a Type-R motor with a higher degree of blueprinting?

That idea has been interesting me too. http://www.k20a.org/forum/index.php This link has a lotta resources on a K20A2 swap into DC2's. If you look around at pics this one guy had the cleanest swap I've ever seen. he hid most of the wiring and hoses and underhood looked SWEET!Dave_B wrote:Yes, but they have "value" because it's a Spoon engine. The creator of that site lives about 25 minutes from me. One of the first k series swaps in the country and knows more about them than most people. I'm not really a fan of k-series in b-series hondas though.98 CW ITR 322 wrote:

Yeah I've seen that car. I could see myself considering one in the future, but I just don't really like the idea of it. The benefits are incredible though.98 CW ITR 322 wrote: Why not ERIK? http://www.k20a.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12486&page=7 Check out K20DC2R's ride Dave.

really pretty pointless and makes things harder to work on.Although cleanliness is very good. Makes it much easier to spot problems/work on the car.Dave_B wrote:That kind of stuff I'm not really into. Sure, it looks "cleaner" but what's the point? It's not going to be a show car.98 CW ITR 322 wrote:Oops! My bad. He even hid battery behind the firewall... looks cool but don't know how safe it would be.

Very true. I'm definintely planning on at least looking at it. So what do I do when both are good deals though?Doespike wrote:Yeah, if nothing else, it'll satisfy your curiosity. I already told her I'd be calling around 11am tomorrow to check it out. I really need to check NADA value on a GS-R with that kind of mileage. They may not even finance it. Dunno yet.
