According to the insurance claim adjuster, they total out the car at about 75% but that it differs with each vehicle and if the extent of the damage is enough where the title changes to salvage. To be honest I don't think they were giving me a straight and honest answer. They did manage, however, to up the value of the pay off for the car to 19,500 from 18,000 for a 2001 Type R with 55,000 miles after I showed them similar cars online that were going for more.

I have Allstate insurance and never go with the first offer. After the first offer I showed them similar Type R's in Cali and all of my receipts which bumped it up another 1500. Not much but better than nothing. I do have a lawyer so that would probably help, though my loss is through a car accident and my lawyer will take a portion from my bodily injury claim whereas you would probably have to pay a lawyer from your own pocket. If the insurance doesn't budge then get a lawyer. I don't know if a private appraiser would help with a stolen car but it wouldn't hurt to ask. I think they need to have a car at least recovered to look at, but here you go.

OWIE!!! Good luck with it all.

Personally I would let them total it, and take the $ and also buy heR back. Find another R if you want and swap parts over and build the engine up to BEASTLY factors! Plus now you got a butt load of spare parts and such. Or just get a hatch ora lower trim teggy and drop everything in there. All depends on what U wanna do. I would buy heR back though...
