Steering ratio of 2001 ITR vs 1997
Hey all
Is the steering ratio of the 2001 ITR quicker than the 1997?
thanks
Is the steering ratio of the 2001 ITR quicker than the 1997?
thanks
My bad I found the info on the acura website.
The ratio was quickened to 15.7:1 with a lock-to-lock of 2.85.
The 1997+ models has a 16.1:1 ratio with a lock-to-lock of 2.98.
I wonder why Honda just barely changed the ratio in 2001; why didn't they offer noticably quicker steering while they were at it?

But why does it says 2000 in FAQ of ITRCA??Jacques79 wrote:SerGTR wrote:didn't honda start doing it in 2000 instead of 2001?
Nope it's in 2001, last year of the Integra.

I wish honda improved it even better to something like s2k's 14.9:1 ratio, well is that possible?Erik95LS wrote:you could get one of the newer racks or try to swap in a manual civic rack and get the quaife kit.SerGTR wrote:So are there anyway to improve older models? The 2000-2003's 13.8:1 ratio would have been even better but it's electrical steering so I doubt it will hook up to an ITR....
Also I see no sense in swapping a 16.1:1 rack for a 15.7:1 rack; you won't notice the difference, or it will be too small to notice for the price the swap will cost!
Someone talked about a Quaife kit; what's that?

The QSR quick ratio rack and pinion gear set is perhaps the most underrated performance part around. The Quaife rack and pinion gears simply replace the existing pieces inside your stock steering rack housing. More rapid steering response is felt with an average of 25 percent reduction in ratio, resulting in fewer turns lock-to-lock: this translates into much quicker steering and turn in at the cost of a slight increase in effort. The QSR is a must for autocross, drifting, and track days. Designed to fit manual steering racks only. Not for power steering

I noticed a pretty drastic difference.Jacques79 wrote:SerGTR wrote:I see.
