Thanks :)

I did this car before the winter, gave it a pretty good work out. It deff saved it over this nasty winter. I washed, machine waxed and vacuum this time and it looked great. I could have banged him out for a $200 job- but not needed or right to do.
Now he wants in a week or so to give the interior a full detail, Leather and carpet shampoo.

That is just rediculous, If anyone wanted their car done like that I would laugh. What's the point? I don't get it. I'm not knocking the work, it's probably perfect but as soon as the car moves an inch it' s dirty again.
that is not for people who use their car everyday. I wonder what kinda profit there is with that much involved...

I'd say they actually do pretty well with that. Its also pretty common, I've found, for many Europeans to go for that kind of "detailing" regimen.

I'm not sure if it was the same guy or not, but a year or two ago I saw a thread of a nearly identical job done on a Masseratti MC12 that the owner payed at least $50k for.

but do yours get things that we don't? Ours with all the bells and whistles can be optioned up to $30k or more. The wheels and tires on that car along with the leather, if it has leather is almost a $4k dollar option. Then if that one is DSG it'd be make the total cost of a seamingly equivalent US one about $26-27k. Thats still way off of nearly $40k US. There are also some special edition ones in the US that are going for around $40k used. I guess it depends on what that car's specs actually are.

Thats really strange. I remember when the A4 chassis VWs came out being astonished at how cheap they were in Switzerland and Germany

they're certainly not cheap here

prices for a new one START at £15,510. so that'll be the cheapest most basic one with no options. then they work up to around £26,000
