Please list your ecu of choice whether you kept your stock obd2 obd1 or hondata what works with a lightly modded R.

If you boost it and run a EMS then OBD1. Im running a p72 (GSR) OBD1 ECU with the Neptune system in my car. I change from a Hondata s200 for turner reasons.

With na h/i/e port job and future mods planned cams cam gears maybe head work what do you suggest

It seems most programable ECUs are fine these days, find out what your local tuner likes to use and talk to his clients to see if they are happy with the work.

I have I/H/E and still on the stock ECU... I'd like to get it tuned one day, but the car is safe for now.

I find it funny every time you say "local tuner"
Some of us aren't so lucky.

I recommend just picking a tuner, whether far or near. Jeff and I flew in Trey to teach me how to tune and get both of our cars straight. (After going to 3 different tuners who couldn't do jack... and they weren't close either). There are absolutely 0 tuners within an hour of hear, and none within 4 hours that I would trust.

I have the S300, and I love it. It is super easy to use. I have looked at Crome, but have not actually tuned with it. It looks almost identical to the S300 software.

Same here no local tuners i really need to learn to tune myselt also.

Of course putting the car on a dyno is always going to be your best bet. With I/H/E your not changing the airflow or fuel of the car enough to need any upgraded ECU program IMHO. With a EMS and a tune with those mods you MIGHT see a cleaner rpm band and MAYBE 5whp up top max...I dont see you gaining much more then take after a "tune". There are a few programs out there that can be swapped out with your stock ECU that will help a bit. Once you get into the cams, gears ect, you'll need to adjust and play with fuel a bit more to really see your gains. But for now, your stock ECU is just fine man.

Also, your in Kansas I see...there are tuners in OKC. I know my tuner, Tony Palo aka Tony1 on Honda-Tech is easy one of the best tuners out hands down. He works in Dallas but he makes a lot of trips to OKC to Tune 2004 NDRA rookie of the years car Chuck Seitsinger. He's Tuned Chris Rado's Drag Celica and he started with Kenny Tran of Jotech Motorsports. Dude is badass! http://www.t1racedevelopment.com is his site. Anyway, just something you might want to check into since you have gone so far to get your car tuned. Tell him Erik B told u to get in contact with him and I know he will take care of you bro.
