Yeah, this sucks.
So some douchebag backed into the Silvia today.
Man.
I'm so choked.
Apparently the guy that hit the car realizes that it's going to cost a pretty penny to get it dealt with (to our standards), but we won't know until we talk to him later tonight how he wants to deal with it.
See, because it's an imported car, the insurance company is absolutely ridiculous to deal with. For the most part, if one panel is damaged, the car is a write off, and there's no way I want a car with a salvage title.
*sigh*
Guess I'll deal with that as it comes.
I've already started looking for replacement parts, and it's not looking good. We definately need a new bumper to replace the Bomex one that was on there, a new fender and signal light, a new bumper support, an a new hood unless we can get the small kink taken out of the stock one. But even if we can save the hood itself, it needs a repaint because of the chips.
Anyways, I have pictures of the carnage.
Poor, poor Sylvester.
See, this is why I drink at night.

Thanks for the love, boys.
So I was talking to a local importer last night, and he had some good news.... the parts that I need are pretty readily available in Japan and they have a container that can hold my stuff as soon as I'm ready to order it! The downside is that the container won't be leaving Japan for another 3 weeks....
There goes Will's fastcar project for the summer. He's been hoarding parts and building that new CA all winter and spring, and now some douchebag went and ruined it for him. Considering we only have 12 weeks where it doesn't snow here, it's a big deal to get things done quickly.
I still have a faint hope that we'll stumble across some parts locally, but it seems like we're going to have to wait for that container to come in July.
So, how the accident happened.....
Will was in a parking lot, and was waiting to take a spot where this kid was, so he was behind and kinda off to the side of the losers car. The loser kid reverses fast, and cuts his wheel viciously as he's pulling out and ends up not hitting Sylvester with the back of his car, but with the front! Yes, here in Alberta, you can get backed into by the FRONT of someone's car.
Anyway, the kid was with his friend, and when he got out of the car and asked 'Where the hell did you come from?', his friend even said 'He was behind you the whole time!!!'
At least there was no disputing who was in the wrong.
*sigh*
Well, I should get my narrow ass to work, but I'll be talking to you guys later.
p.s. Good luck with the tank, Gary! I hope she comes out looking sooooo gr00d!!!!
(for the price they're charging you, she should come with two $1,000 dollar bills stuffed under her bumper.) :lolz:

But in reality, it could always be worse. At least they weren't big accidents. No injuries FTW!!!
Or thefts.... I don't think my poor little heart could deal with losing another car that way.

Surprisingly enough, the intercooler and all the piping is fine. I was actually shocked, considering how close the fender is to touching it.nautica_t wrote:aww poor silvia.
did your intercooler get pushed too?
looking at the picture i see an intercooler looks to be bent a bit.
The intercooler is angled, but that's the way it's mounted.
Thank God. Although we'll be getting a front mount crammed in there soon enough.
I'd just rather do it at my own pace.
btw Dave and 'trigger happy' Joe, thanks for the offer of taking the douchebag gator hunting!
It's a good example of why I love you fools.

So, a quick update....
The kid doesn't want to go through insurance, so that's awesome.
I found a bumper support and the front signals in the city, and our body-man says that he can save the hood no problem and he may even be able to save the fender. That means that we only have to order in the bumper, and Will found one that he likes in the States, so hopefully we'll be able to get it here pretty quick.
w00t!
So we still need to get the front end painted as part of the repair, but Will's going to put in extra and get the entire car painted, we think. Not quite sure on the type of paint, other than we want it to be black. Flake, pearl or jet black is the question..... lol. I'm leaning towards jet black. Like ink. No flakes or nonsense, just........ blackness.
We'll see how it goes, and I'll be keeping everyone posted.
Thanks again for all the love, f00ls. Sylvester says thanks. :lolz:
