Question concerning a paint buffer/polisher

Anything goes? Well, if you keep it clean and aren't obnoxious.

Question concerning a paint buffer/polisher

Post by Fret1255 »

Recently i was given a 10inch Orbital Coleman Waxer/polisher. Its rated at almost 2600PRM i believe. I was told that really you would want a good variable speed buffer and use it only at about 900-1600RPM when in use for a gentle buff. My question is this something i (a rookie detailer) should attempt to use on my car?

porter cable 7424, and any of the better quality foam pads and you can't go wrong.

Just use your head and you should be fine and happy with the results.

DO NOT over pay on the porter cable 7424, I got mine at Lowes for $47.60 Pads on the other hand can run from $5 and up, don't use cheaps- better ones get better results. I have the Sonus SFX Pads.

Since your new at using a buffer, stick to the orbital machines for a while.
High speed buffers can destroy a paint job in seconds.

It doesn't have rpms it has 1-6, I vary it a lot depending on many things.
I would say just about half of it's range is fine for most surfaces.
