banking in NC is so backwards

Anything goes? Well, if you keep it clean and aren't obnoxious.

banking in NC is so backwards

Post by crxgator »

im trying to do a trade of my civic for a ITR, and im getting nothing but problems...

these are different companies/banks i was getting info from:

Capefear credit union - wont even talk to me without becoming a member (cost $15).
East carolina credit union - will only do loans on cars older than 2002 for two years. (WTF).
Suntrust - Too old
Alliance - who i original was going to use, they were going to give me 14k, for a 60 mo loan, but now they said only 12.5k because i had a one time late payment on a student loan earlier last year because the student loan company never contacted me. My credit score was good, and it's mute at this point...however, they said for them to issue the check, they need to have the title in hands.

Ive never dealt with this crap before. in a normal state like NY, you get a copy of the title, get a buyer's/seller's agreement, then you get insurance on the car in order to get the Loan check for the seller. He then gives you the title, and off you go to the DMV...it's f'n insane trying to get a loan down here...

so pissed off right now...

Damn, that sucks. NY ain't a picnic when it comes to the DMV though. When we bought our last boat, we had to run back to the seller's house 3 times to get "one more piece of info". Like the fuckin bitch at the DMV couldn't tell us everything that was needed at once!!! :x Like standing in DMV lines 3 times in one day is fun...

dmv in nc is worse than ny for sure...you have to pay a yearly tax on how much your car is worth...1 yr of dmv registration in nc is like $150, in ny it was $40 for two years...

this sounds like the most complicated fucking series of events ever for buying a car :?

over here

go to see owner. if you agree to buy, take 5 minutes with them filling out the V5 Logbook with details of new owner and agreement from both parties that consent is given to change owners, etc. old owner send this away in the post to the DVLA notifying change of ownership.

new owner arranges insurance on car, pays old owner, however that may be.

in a few weeks new owner gets updated V5 through the post with new owners details on it

how hard does it need to be :?
cheezthis:- Last year was much calmer compared to previous years.

AssPenny:-
That was because I wasn't there :P

Thats roughly how it works in West Virginia also. Easy as can be. Most states are pretty easy, but some make it very difficult.
