Fair market value 1997 ITR 51K?
Fair market value 1997 ITR 51K?
What is the fair market value for a 1997 ITR with only 51K? Never seen snow. Never tracked or raced. No mods. Stock OEM Honda and never beaten. Acura maintained. Mature adult owner. No accidents. I was thinking $14,500. What do you guys think?

This is my problem. I have had people tell me varying prices. I am confused. Some are saying 14,000 to 20,000 grand. How does one come up with a fair market value?

I think she's definitely in the $17-18 range. This mint and stock 97 with 55k miles was listed at $17k firm and did sell recently.

This 1997 is going for $16k with 44k miles and a clean title.
It's not bone stock but a decent comparison.

I went to the local Acura dealer and talked to the service manager and sales manager. They have had a couple of mint and non-mint ITRs come through the dealership recently and one in particular was a 1997 ITR with 38K bone stock...they sold it to another customer for $14,500 plus tax and title. I was incredulous. I am thinking that the prices vary according to demand in a particular region.

It's pretty clear that the values are actually going up on decent type-r's, and almost regardless of the mileage.
My '98 with over 100K miles has been getting MUCH more attention in the last year than in the last 5. I've had probably a dozen (maybe more?) people stop me at lights and carwashes tell me they want to buy my R if it's available. It gets WAY more attention than my S2000.
The cars are getting rarer (more tracked, trashed, and over-modified cars in the pool leaving less stock and decent cars), the market doesn't have many comparable cars (I'd argue that there are VERY few models that compare in performance, fun, and trackability now), and face it, the type-r is almost a perfect drivers car. We are very lucky.
My opinion of course...

Are you interested in a trade for another ITR possibly?
If so, PM me and I'll give you all the details. But FWIW, it's modded decently.
