2008 ASN Canada FIA Canadian SoloSprint
Championship Event Awarded
Mississauga, Ontario – June 25, 2008
ASN Canada FIA is pleased to announce that the 2008 ASN Canada FIA Canadian SoloSprint Championship, supported by Trac Racing Depot and Talon Tire, will be held at Calabogie Motorsports Park, Calabogie, Ontario on Labour Day weekend Aug. 29-31, 2008. The fourth edition of the SoloSprint championships will remain in Ontario after last year’s championships held at Mosport. This year’s championship will be organized by two clubs: Club Auto-sport Des Laurentides and the Motorsport Club of Ottawa under the directorship of Nancy Laberge and Craig Seko.
“With the National SoloSprint Championships being organized by two of the top SoloSport clubs in the country, we are looking for an exciting and well organized event,” said Terry Epp, chairman of the ASN Canada FIA National SoloSport Committee. “ASN has put together a $5,000 tow fund to assist competitors from outside of Ontario and Quebec come to the event and this program is also being supplemented by three territories that are eager to see their competitors compete in the National Championships. It will be interesting to see which province the eventual winner comes from.”
“I'm very enthusiastic to be co-directing the largest Canadian SoloSprint event in 2008,” said Nancy Laberge. “With this event being combined with a two day regional championship event in each of FSAQ and CASC-OR SoloSprint championship series, plus the opportunity to compete on the Calabogie track we expect that the event will attract large numbers of competitors wanting to challenge themselves against the best in the country.”
“Last year, the Calabogie Time Trials set the official lap time record at this track. I am hoping for a new record this year.” said Craig Seko. “We have over $10,000 in prizes for the event, including a set of Toyo tires going to the overall Canadian SoloSprint champion. ASN Canada FIA and the Atlantic, Western, and B.C. territories are helping to attract competitors from across the country by offering funds towards competitors' travel costs. With all this to offer, I am hoping that competitors from across Canada will be able to come and try to win the title.”
Further details about the event will soon be found on http://www.solosprint.ca. For immediate information or answers to questions please contact: Craig or Nancy at: solosprint@mco.org.
